Succulent iD please

Hi all!

I bought four pots of these succulents over the summer and planted them in the ground...of course, I don't know what it is nor its hardiness and may have to dig it up for the winter! Thanks~

Could it be orostachys?

It needs very good drainage - it is actually alpine succulent. I believe some species are hardy to z2 (?) They are also monocarpic - after flowers are finished, the blooming rosette will die.

Webkat5, it is possible that BOTH of your Eches are pulvinata, but different cultivars. The first could be 'Ruby blush', and the second is probably 'Frosty'. I honestly am not aware of the differences between harmsii and pulvinata, but I would think that they are closely related species.

The succulent looks like X sedeveria Whitestone crop, not sure what the cactus is but I've had one before too. I hate the fake flowers. Absolutely awful that they would try and do that.

I've been told that the fine fiber-like growths that emerge from the stems at the leaf nodes are a characteristic of anacampseros rufescens but obviously anacampseros rufescens looks nothing like this plant. This plant belongs to a friend of mine and I let him know that it could use some more sunshine I'll see if he can send some updated photos if it has changed at all as well in case that might help :)

Similar to Sempervivums...Are you going to overwinter it outdoors? In your zone it should be NP at all. Just make sure spot they are in is very well drained, they are very sensitive to overwatering (even more than some other succulents). I would plant them on the mound, adding lots of grit. You could leave it in the pot, same applies...Nice plant, I have not seen it around here in the stores - yet.

Thanks Rina! I think I will leave it outdoors because I haven't got a lot of space indoors, lol. And it looks like I'll have to grab a bag of pumice to amend the soil because it rains ALOT here in the winter.

What a lovely plant. I hadn't seen it before, and now I'm quite smitten.

I went poking around for info about it. I read that it grows fast, likes cold weather, and doesn't like humidity. I also read that it's biennial. Does anyone still reading this know about this? Does it start again from seed every couple of years or does it produce enough offsets to come back quickly.

I think it propagates by offsets, don't know about seeds. I remember Harry posting a photo of one he had...
