terriks, Hee, hee, hee, that's a good one. Against my better judgement but because my sister likes them, I bought 2 of those sports tees made from wicking fabric. I find them terribly hot. No wonder they have to wick the perspiration, they create it. I'd rather wear cotton that breathes and might get damp than to create a heat problem. As you know if you've ever read any of my comments, I have temperature control issues and I'm cold most of the year. That's why I was so shocked to feel overheated in those stupid sports fabrics. Somehow they just don't work for me. I don't wear capri pants but, in their defense, how do they cut you in half any more than a skirt that ends near the knee? Only long pants would give a totally uninterrupted line. Sometimes a girl just has to wear a skirt, shorts, or a pair of capris. I agree, to a point, with funky that no one else notices our flaws. Or notices them with the same intensity. But I'll admit I do look at my personal weakness areas on other women to see how they are handling it. Not with judgement, but with hope I'll learn about style or camouflage. More often than not I admire their confidence to wear what they are wearing. But here's the thing - just because I don't like my upper arms doesn't mean she doesn't. She might be obsessing about another feature that she thinks everyone is looking at because that's where her focus goes. Maybe she's checking out my unpolished toenails and wondering where I get the confidence to leave the house that way. I guess it all comes back to being comfortable in our skin as well as in our clothes.

I hope nobody thought I wore socks with sandals! I meant to say that ALL shoes rub so I wear socks or hose, I don't wear the flip-flop type sandals at all b/c they rub. Sometimes I will wear hose with a strappy shoe that I guess you could call a sandal - if they're dressy, have heels (even wedges). Casual open-toe sandals I don't wear hose - of course I'm usually wearing those with shorts! Even in my 20's and wearing miniskirts I always wore hose with heels. They help reduce the friction. Don't do anything for sweaty feet though - I had lots of pairs of hose with stained feet from the dye coming off the shoes. My kids' shoes stink - even 10-yr old DD's feet sometimes stink. But the 15-yr runner's are the worst!

I am a t-shirt person! I like Talbot’s Pima cotton t-shirts. I have short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, and long sleeves. I do not dry them in the dryer. However, I do throw them in for 5 minutes on low heat with a dryer sheet then hang on a folding rack to dry. This past season (winter) I found them to be quite long, almost too long. I’ve also bought Land’s End. They are quite long. The Pima cotton is soft, but it might be a tad thin. I bought t-shirts from LLBean several years ago. I liked the fabric but found the shirts to be a bit short and the sleeves were closer to cap sleeves than short sleeves.

The pool has cooled off, and last night we went in the spa for the first time in weeks. The pool was 86° (I prefer 87°), and we heated the spa to 103°, which was a bit too warm. Weather was in the 90s, and so it felt pleasant. Here's the new cabana jacket I made Since the pockets are lined with terry cloth, the pattern does not appear to line up exactly when viewed from certain angles - this was the best I could do with this pattern. Also, the pattern shifted slightly when I pre-washed it, but it's busy enough that I think that won't matter. I'll have to order more fabric to make the next one, and it will have thick terry cloth (for winter) like the first one I made. I do like the waffle weave terry cloth, however. This was easier to make than the linen shirt because this fabric did not shift around while I was working with it. For comparison with the linen shirt I made, I ordered at $22 linen shirt from Amazon, and while I like it a lot, I like the one I made better. The one from Amazon has a shirttail hem at the bottom, and I prefer the straight bottom that I made. The pocket I made is nicer.
