Comments (21)People who come in, ask a question, get responses, and just disappear. No "thank you", no agreement or disagreement, no discussion, just nothing. You don't know if they ever read what was posted or benefited from it. This happens fairly frequently as most people try to make newcomers feel welcome. Another is when a poster starts a topic just like one that's in the window. I don't know if people are just unwilling to hunt around for answers that may already exist or if it's a thrill to post a thread all by themselves! Or people who make firm recommendations they obviously haven't tried but picked up from somebody else. Not helpful. But let's face it. The longer you're here at GW, the more you've seen and answered the same questions over and over again. When it's all new, it's great fun. When it's old-hat, well, it ain't so fun except on really good days, I suppose....See Moreirritating advertisement header
Comments (7)agreed - before Adblock, it was an infuriating scramble to close the various ads (complete with portentous soundtracks) and, being a bit short sighted, I couldn't always find the 'x' to stop them. Didn't dare let the cursor wander towards the edge of the screen in case I was invaded by fabric softener, outdoors wear or toothpaste ads. Enraging, I almost headbutted the monitor a couple of times....See Morere-upping
Comments (17)You should be able to right-click on a blank space of the button area, Westelle, then choose "Customize". On the right-hand side of the window that pops up is "Current toolbar buttons". Just highlight the GW one, then press the "remove" button. That still doesn't address the issue of HOW it got there in the first place! Very strange! Comments (14)It appears to be a carpenter's mistake since the intention of the design is clearly stated on the drawings. Perhaps the windows were installed before the door arrived. IMHO there is no reason to replace anything other than the narrow "picture frame" molding; it's really out of place here. Option A (cheapest) Raise the door head trim and find a way to fill the resulting gap. I would also fill the gap between the door and window jamb trims because these narrow strips of wall look amateurish to me. Option B (best) Use 3/8" or 1/2" flat trim that spans from opening to opening, then add a decorative band molding around the outer perimeter of the entire assembly. The flat part of the trim would be a bit larger at the door head but it would look fine since it's at a door not a window. If the carpenter is good he could add a cove, bevel or bead at the inner edges. That is the way triple openings have been detailed for hundreds of years so I'm surprised the architects or the builder didn't suggest it....See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
