Charger Plate
Comments (10)Thanks, to everyone. Here is another guys opinion on my plate. He wrote this on an Asian Arts Forum that i use. Hi. Your porcelain charger is decorated in a combination of white (clear glazed white porcelain) underglaze cobalt blue painting, and overglaze coral red enamel. It is in the style of the artist Makuzu Kozan or his studio (workshop). Therefore, it belongs in the general catagory of Japanese studio ceramics. Your charger, which was probably made in the late Meiji period (around 1900-1910) is an excellent example of this genre and would have been relatively expensive when made and fairly valuable now. There is a related charger decorated with bamboo shoots in white and cobalt blue on a coral red background in the famous "Arts of Imperial Japan" collection of Professor Nasser D Khalili, Khalili Family Trust, which you may research by Google search....See MoreNew Charger/Plates & BDay Table
Comments (10)OA, I only had part of a sheet so I cut out the BD. It might be interesting to see what it would cost to use a laminating machine to make some. Thanks Karen, you do like purple. It was one of our school colors and I really like it in most shades. SIL is a hunter so I used the geese in the cp. Jeanne, I only have the satin mod podge but I think I could buy the hard one and it would be washable. I will look for this next time I go to town. I had traded a gal years ago for a couple plates and I don't think I ever used them. They were western. Haven't seen them so not sure where they ended up. NanaK, DSIL is so laid back that he wouldn't care if the table was pink. Glad you enjoyed the cp and nr and bears. The one bear is all about oil changes so thought it would go for a man thing. Thanks everyone for the comments and I may try covering a whole chg. today depending on what goes on. Punk...See MoreRed or Green charger plate (pics included)
Comments (19)Guess I'd say the red is best too. After seeing pix. Tho silver and gold also nice. Red works for the other holidays mentioned, so good choice. Blackthumb (sounds like me, LOL. I murder flowers). Anyway, if you hang around here with us thru out the year you'll find that some of us have a little secret skeleton in our dish closets. I'm not telling WHO either! But "some of us" don't entertain, or have reasons to do pretty tablesettings other than we love them and want to try doing so. So we set a pretty table for our 'invisible friends' and take a photo, which we share here with everyone to admire our wonderful table decorations. LOL. We're so easily amused and have such fun here! Especially me, before I met this gang and became a dish nut, I thought a Charger was the horse a knight rode! hugs, Karen...See MoreIn need of vintage roster graphic
Comments (8)Stacie, thank you, love that roster! dont know if I could paint that or not, I am not a good painter. Luvs thank you for the link, I love them also, but I am in need of a single roster that I can make a 8 and a half circle to fit in the center of the charger plate, wish I could post the picture I saw of one, when I try to resize it in my print program to post it the picture goes wacky, guess its something to keep you from useing the graphic. there is some real pretty decals on that site!
