Looking for a small decorative mirror
Comments (9)Thanks for the ideas, everyone. I hadn't thought of the picture frame angle. And I have tried HomeGoods too. No luck. But as you say, always new stuff coming in and I will keep checking back. I'll also keep an eye out if I hit any thrift stores too. I never seem to think of those places, but they do have some good stuff, and you never know what you'll find. Regina, that's funny! I actually bought that Ballard Designs mirror about a week ago and it was the right price, size, and I liked the look...but it came with black spots all throughout the mirror. I've not returned it to them yet. It would've been perfect without those spots. Olychick, I do like the LNT mirror you posted. It is a little more than I want to spend, but I will keep it in mind. It's very pretty....See MoreDo you use the front door as an entrance?
Comments (26)I am a landscaper so I see your solution in what you want to do in the outdoors rather than indoors. If you love the idea of a cottage garden, create one with a meandering path that leads to the door you want to enter. Using plantings for the different seasons you can make it a real pleasure for you or anyone else to be directed to whichever entrance you like. I have seen this done on several projects I have worked on to wonderful effect - granted these are people who have professional designers and landscapers, but you could pull it off with a little investment and investigation. Find images of cottage gardens you like and observe how they interface with foot traffic and entryways. If you do this right, it can add significant value to your home. Just make sure you have a good master plans that takes into account realistic traffic needs and seasons (how will i feel lugging in groceries, kids, grandma, going through bad weather, etc) Be honest with yourself about the compromises you will have to live with - farther from the car, mud? snow?s I love the idea of making your side door the main entrance! Good luck, Grace...See MoreSmall entrance hallway
Comments (9)There are some inspiring pictures as this link to give you ideas - http://foter.com/explore/narrow-mirrored-console-table My favorite this a DIY one, which was made with corbels and a board that one could size to their needs. Your entry is beautiful; congrats on the new home!...See MoreTo anyone who has painted their island a different color
Comments (13)Hi @Beth H. : I wanted to do a green and was eyeballing Farrow and Ball Green Smoke. But I worry that I will get tired of it and should stick with going with something in the grey/white/black family. As of right now, that color is Farrow and Ball Down Pipe. Still grey just darker. I feel like I will love it longer,/forever and it will tie in well with the grout and less likely to go out of style....See Moremissouribound
