In my last kitchen I put Lowe's $3 pulls and knobs. They were ORB with a basketweave type pattern on them and the buyer of our condo loved them when she bought the place.

Now I'm looking at cup pulls and glass knobs. Probably going to spend between $7-$15 each.

My sister redid her kitchen and I think her bling cost her close to $100 each. Too rich for my blood.

Mine were cheap, exactly what I wanted, and still look great after two years. They are aluminum. Less than $2 each if I recall. Obviously, this was before we were finished with everything. The corner susan and spice pullout got a round knob with an edge. Hard to see in this pic.

We've all read about those lucky people who happened to be roosted at their computers, shopping air fares, when their airline accidentally keyed in a roundtrip flight to Europe for $5 (or whatever). Well, the closest I'll likely ever come to that was last year when I was surfing the internet for long pulls (for my 6 x 36" wide drawers). I narrowed the style down to Amerock Candler, and the search led me to Amazon. Lo and behold! $15 for these oversized pulls...could not believe my eyes. Every other site listed them as $95-$115. I was literally shaking as I placed the order, hoping the price wouldn't suddenly disappear.

All other colors except the satin nickel I'd chosen were listed as $95-$115, so I wasn't sure if this finish was going out of style: I didn't care.

However, when I checked a month later (a friend was interested), they'd gone back up to $100+. I just checked now, and Amazon has them listed for $56.76 + free shipping...so, the price does fluctuate.

Throughout the rest of the kitchen, I purchased a variety of 3-3/4" ($3.78 each) and 5" ($4.55).

I bought a few extra smaller ones for 'just in case', but 34 smaller pulls plus 7 oversized pulls totaled ~ $250. We saved on the labor by installing them ourselves.

Morals of the story: shop around, keep refreshing your screen, and DIY!

My knobs on uppers only, the pulls are 5 inch and 12 inch for the biggest drawers. I will have to look up where I got them and the price but I was extremely pleased with quality and cost. I know the pulls are called sisal. I love the matte black. Allows my cabinets to be the star along with the fantasy brown quartzite.

I didn't buy all of mine from this company and the prices do vary depending on the site. I think I only bought the Fleur-de-lis knobs there, they were out of the pulls.

I forgot to remind people to check the shipping costs when you compare prices, especially buying samples.

I was going to pull the trigger on buying 2 samples at $3.49 and $4.99 each until I saw the shipping was $21 for the two items. That's just ridiculous since they could have been mailed in an envelope.

Heather, I dislike bin pulls but those and the swans are lovely.

I got these solid brass knobs off eBay for a couple dollars (Canadian) each including shipping. The bin pulls are Lee Valley and were $8 each. I stripped the lacquer off them myself with boiling water and baking soda.

We used antique pulls from type-set trays. They are cast iron, and are from Hamilton manufacturing. I have no connection to the printing industry; I just thought they were cool. I needed 37 of them, and it took me over 4 months to glean them off of ebay. It worked out to $7 each, but some vendors want crazy money for them.

(They are horribly inconsistent - I purchased/returned 30-40 to find 17 I liked but I love my 17 now.)

Mine ( Hafele 107.18.613 6" pulls, satin nickel) were $2.50 each w/ free shipping from Knobsnpulls -- other online vendors had same/similar prices. Caveat-- they didn't come with the screws, I had to go to the big box to buy them. I am very pleased with them, after 3 years still in perfect condition. Love their solid feel and room to easily grip.

Here's another tip. If you're looking for long cabinet pulls, avoid the ones that are called appliance pulls. They will be 3x as expensive for the same length.

The industry makes the screw holes larger and then upcharge.

Thank you for the compliments! I have to admit we had less then 20 pulls and only 4 were swans! Each time I use them I smile ;^) since we DIYed I just couldn't pass up the eye candy, they suit the house.

I fell in love with some pulls in a picture of a Goop pop up store in NYC last Dec. Couldn't find them anywhere and then suddenly, there they were on the Waterworks kitchen web site. Hooray!...until I looked at the price...$238 EACH! I had no idea one could spend that much on pulls and I sure wasn't - I needed 32 pulls. Insanity!

I found some gorgeous ones on Look in the Attic. They're hand forged, polished, non- lacquered solid brass and we're just under $10 each. Now that's more my speed!

Mine are very plain, arch type styles, satin nickel. I got them in a bulk pack at Lowes. They are very similar in look to my fridge and microwave handles.
