Let's Talk Closet Organization
Comments (24)Love California Closets, but quite expensive!! We have a combination of Pax wardrobes from Ikea and Closetmaid system from Home Depot. I'm offically out of hanging space so am thinking of taking out the dresser to place add'l hanging space on back wall. (DH says I just need to get rid of all the things I don't wear...I guess there's some truth to that! Left side has shelving for sweaters + hang space and right-siis mostly double-hang space + section for dresses etc. (Pic taken before everything got piled back in! Add'l storage hidden in these pics) I keep all casual T-shirts etc in Pax wardrobe in DH closet + space in 2 spare rooms...yes, it's time to re-organize so perhaps this thread will motivate me to do it! I would love to have everything including storage for shoes in 1 spot, but this closet simply isn't large enough! What is lacking in my closet is space for shoes...they are all over the place and something that I would certainly want to address for any 'do-overs'!...See MoreThere's no Closet Forum, so....Can We talk Walk In Closets?
Comments (21)Lots of really good light is necessary. Trying to differentiate between the navy blue pants and the black pants and then trying to find socks that match is hard without good lighting. I'm always having to bring my stuff out of the closet into the bedroom where the light is better to figure it out. I have a mix of hangers - padded ones for blouses, clipped ones for skirts, my Dh likes wooden ones for suit jackets and I like really strong ones for my jeans - and those are really hard to find these days. Costco often sells nice packages of hangers. Think about what you are storing other than clothes - shoes, purses (I have a deeper shelf at the top for purses so as to keep those pesky straps under control and they are in cubbies that hold about 4 purses each), accessories such as scarves, belts....See MoreWeek 38: Has your well run dry?
Comments (41)I finally found the picture. For some reason the last time I tried to find it the only picture I could see on that thread was the one with TX's drywall. That is along the line of what we're looking for, however I'm a little unsure about the size. I'll measure how big the space inside the drawer(s) are this afternoon and get back to you, just to make sure it would actually go in there. I was able to get the escrow thing fixed pretty easily. When I called the person was skeptical until she pulled up the file and noticed that the county returned the extra amount paid last week (their analysis was done on 1/30). They'll redo their analysis and get back to me by the middle of next week. They were shockingly pleasant about it! Congrats on selling the boards! These days our place feels cluttered; I'm looking forward to donating/selling after the next reno project that's scheduled. Not sure whether the cash or having fewer things is more appealing....See MoreWeek 122 - ABB or ABH - which is worse?
Comments (11)ABH. Hun, I'm going on 10 years. It took me almost 12 to realize my Ah HA cabinets were beaded inset. My trouble is that I don't want two, little handles on very wide drawers. Even medium sized would be great, but I won't settle for less than ah HA! Unfortunately, two of my ah HAs have been discontinued. Plus, I don't go for the norm, it seems, ever. I embody "eclectic," "funky," and, "Oh, that's cool." (and all the raised eyebrows and Stank Face (cat little commercial) behind my back. LOL! Blue tape is my friend. I tried ribbon, but the cat thought it was a chew toy and it became difficult to get the inset drawers open with all the frayed ends. Tape it is. I learned if you pull DOWN on the tape, it doesn't tear off. Kinda wish they made it in wood color... Screw the ABB. I'm going to paint and seal. Here, paint base is my friend. If, for some weird reason, I come face to face with some fabulous tile that screams, "AH HA HAHAHAHAHAH You're the kitchen person I've waited for all my life" We might talk....See Morejaviwa
