Black and White and red all over....
Comments (5)Would not sweat the backsplash now either, and without seeing the plan or the style cabs, think that Subway tiles may look busy and detract from the granite (due to lots of grout lines)...large tiles or travertine might be better. Also where and how close to high abuse (stove back, sink) areas are the back splash areas For floors, dont dismiss natural wood colors, such as bamboo. My SIL did her kitchen in dark mahogany cabs (upper), stained some of the base ones a sage, put in granite, and a light wood bamboo floor with enough brownish veining tones in it to compliment the mahogany. The light floor makes the mahogany pop without feeling dark and her touches of color show well as a result. The bamboo flooring can hold up fine in a kitchen but perhaps not a high traffic with 4 kids. We have wood parquet (highly sealed) in our kitchen which gives a light maple glow with st steel counters and dark cherry cabs. That has worked well too and last 20 years. I like the wood as it is forgiving to stand on and work. And fewer things break if dropped. Good luck....See MoreCeiling Fan: white, black or not at all?
Comments (16)I agree with Busybee - I did not like ceiling fans but I am now a convert. I like the one that Cat-mom has. I prefer a ceiling fan with no light they look nice and the breeze it creates is wonderful. My home had a white ceiling fan when we bought it and when we remodeled we chose a wood blade fan with orb finish and It looks great. Comments (21)When we moved into our 1960’s bungalow, it had many rooms with “bold” accent walls. These served to make the rooms dark and closed in. We repainted the entire main floor with BM Cloud White (which has a creamy tone to it). Baseboards and trim plus the kitchen cabinets were done in BM Chantilly Lace (which is a brighter white.) The floors and interior doors are birch hardwood with a lot of colour variation. The transformation was stunning. The consistency of birch floors and white walls on the entire main floor gave the space a light, airy feel. The white looks different depending on which room you are in and where the light is coming from. I can’t say enough good things about all white walls. I would do it over again in a heart beat....See MoreBlack/Black, White/White, or Black/White Windows
Comments (5)Hard no to white on the exterior. White on the interior depends what else you've got going in the rest of the house. In the one interior pic you posted, the wood looks great with the dark windows, to my eye white would cheapen that look. I would just stick with the plan for the black/black -- bite the cost bullet and be patient for what you want, otherwise you might regret it. I'm curious -- why would black limit the warranty?...See Morejuddgirl2
