Honed quartz help!
Comments (158)Just got new Pental Quartz Misterio honed counters, which are white with a grey veining very sporadically. I hate them and so regret this decision! Nothing was ever disclosed to me by the store or the third party stone vendors that honed finish would have all these problems. Scuff marks from anything metal - the entire area around the sink is scuffed from washing pots and pans. Last week I laid some mail on my countertop and picked it up a couple hours later and the ink from something is now imprinted on my counter! I tried Fantastic (which is what the stone company recommends) , Mr Clean Magic Eraser, Clorox Clean Up spray, Windex, Acetone finger nail polish remover (also recommended by the stone company) and nothing will remove the imprint. The counter absorbs everything. I am petrified of spaghetti sauce, or red beets, or curry sauce, or a pen. I went back to the home improvement store I contracted through and asked about having the counters sealed and they said they already were! How can this be? If that is true, this product should never be sold for use in a real home. I am just sick with having spent this much money on such a huge mistake. DO NOT EVER INSTALL HONED COUNTERS IN A REAL HOME KITCHEN THAT GETS USED!!...See MoreHow to get paint thinner out of quartz?
Comments (12)My fabricator dulled (scratched) my quartz by using acetone and Barkeeper's Friend to clean up. He came back to polish out the dulled areas after undergoing Caesarstone's training. It took him 2 1/2 hours to enlarge a 3" square to a polished 2' x 2' section. He needed to use increasingly finer polishing pads and it was slow-going. The polished area was duller than the original, so he stopped because he realized the entire countertop would need to be polished. He didn't like the results so they replaced the countertops. You do notice the marks more when the area is backlit by natural or artificial light. It can also be worse during different times of the year when the angle of the sun changes. My countertop went in in May and was replaced in the fall so I noticed the change....See MoreWhere can I find a silicone mat for cooking on an induction cooktop?
Comments (47)I've been using this mat, Large Induction Cooktop Protector Mat 21.2x35.4" on my 30" Thermador for a week now. I like that it's large enough to cover the whole cooktop and while it's translucent, it's too dark to see the controls so I just lift up the mat when I need to access it. It's also very easy to put on and stays in place nicely. I also learned that if you wipe it down while the mat is still hot, a thin film will start to peel so best to wait until everything is cool. There seems to be several listing of the same product from KitchenRaku but they range in price from $56.99 to $32.99. I can't tell the difference between them. Anyone else have any thoughts on what the difference(s) are? https://www.amazon.com/KitchenRaku-Induction-21-2x35-4-Translucent-Antiscratch/dp/B0CF1P1FDH/ref=sr_1_2?crid=UL8VFGIRCZ00&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fzscL1fWbZfMGo0H1lIAruSwiYCGVtSli6qGFk8omcm5L9ycjWvCaYAc9O3MDrFO8K-lcFkwnmhOE8dazslN4_RVdIwlvYs8GtrCbQ2cssylIQKW687L3PsSZL_qb1e_XPUe6qzUJoEY-KNWLbvEddzl4xbARmXEhJRpI2ueqlxgZ8K_XoZihkH0iM73jqd3ZgbYIBOsjxM4XqmRy0ydXqIm5tMWtv2hgkAjszVat3ehCX44aroh1Kzj7njVsUYIEkrtoDAZ5mc0C93-JqZcTE6S7sQ_2F4Bh3ZiGfpnxao.H57GnYIRy-yxeIJK-y2p9hrN93hpmX_60PufqiX-PbI&dib_tag=se&keywords=large+induction+cooktop+protector+mat&qid=1714279942&sprefix=large+induction+%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-2 https://www.amazon.com/Induction-Protector-Anti-Strike-Anti-Scratch-21-2x35-4In/dp/B0C2Y47K1M/ref=sr_1_5?crid=UL8VFGIRCZ00&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fzscL1fWbZfMGo0H1lIAruSwiYCGVtSli6qGFk8omcm5L9ycjWvCaYAc9O3MDrFO8K-lcFkwnmhOE8dazslN4_RVdIwlvYs8GtrCbQ2cssylIQKW687L3PsSZL_qb1e_XPUe6qzUJoEY-KNWLbvEddzl4xbARmXEhJRpI2ueqlxgZ8K_XoZihkH0iM73jqd3ZgbYIBOsjxM4XqmRy0ydXqIm5tMWtv2hgkAjszVat3edT_nXfxwzbtk6XI-bWvp_xOBH36SgmUP3VQMJalbWCE6S7sQ_2F4Bh3ZiGfpnxao.zp3L25DvmciECQfw1Br97IY1l_CNWgSe7SI0Noo-24A&dib_tag=se&keywords=large+induction+cooktop+protector+mat&qid=1714279016&sprefix=large+induction+%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-5 https://www.amazon.com/KITCHENRAKU-KR-Induction-Anti-strike-Anti-scratch/dp/B0BYH8HHP6/ref=sr_1_4?crid=UL8VFGIRCZ00&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fzscL1fWbZfMGo0H1lIAruSwiYCGVtSli6qGFk8omcm5L9ycjWvCaYAc9O3MDrFO8K-lcFkwnmhOE8dazslN4_RVdIwlvYs8GtrCbQ2cssylIQKW687L3PsSZL_qb1e_XPUe6qzUJoEY-KNWLbvEddzl4xbARmXEhJRpI2ueqlxgZ8K_XoZihkH0iM73jqd3ZgbYIBOsjxM4XqmRy0ydXqIm5tMWtv2hgkAjszVat3ehCX44aroh1Kzj7njVsUYIEkrtoDAZ5mc0C93-JqZcTE6S7sQ_2F4Bh3ZiGfpnxao.H57GnYIRy-yxeIJK-y2p9hrN93hpmX_60PufqiX-PbI&dib_tag=se&keywords=large+induction+cooktop+protector+mat&qid=1714279984&sprefix=large+induction+%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-4...See Moresmudges on quartz countertops that won’t come off
Comments (27)Hi Ellen! Sorry for the delay in responding. The daltile rep came out and wiped it down with acetone which helped, but I foolishly thought it could be done a little more and did it myself, resulting in a pretty big dull spot next to my stove. Luckily, the placement of a cutting board right on top of the spot looks good so that is what I will be doing. The acetone definitely helped the smudges though! I should have just not gotten so overzealous and taken matters into my own hands further. You live and you learn! :)...See MorePink Poppy
