Comments (12)Thanks guys :-) ogd, Yes that is Abe Darby but isn't that cat something. We can't figure out where she lives. She seems to be well fed but she is here most of the time. We all love her even the two little pom girls. When I let them out, the first thing they do is look for her. I kind of let my wife choose the dahlias because she loves them so I don't know most of the names. The one you're referring to is more of a lavendar than pink. It's a lot like the dinnerplate I have but a bit smaller and rounder. KG, I'm afraid that fall is not that far off here either. We are due to have a couple more days in the mid 70's here and then it's going to drop. I'm hoping for an Indian summer because I don't want my garden to go to sleep just quite yet. Isn't that salvia cool ? I have a picture of Yvonne and her husband Sam standing next to this huge thicket of these things that really warms my heart. I had it tacked up next to my grow light while I was germinating and starting the seeds :-) Masha, you are more than welcome to blame me and I will gladly plead guilty to the wickedness of which I have been hereby accused :-)...See MoreApril-May 2016 Blooms - part 1
Comments (18)Thank you everyone. I enjoy looking at photos of your roses and gardens and it is a pleasure to share my rose photos with all of you. I bought Love Song standard from Regan early this year and it has been amazing like everyone has said. Huntington Rose blooms are only a bit over 3" but I really like the globular form of the blooms. I also bought it bare root from Regan this year. My Olivia Rose Austins gave beautiful blooms in spring but have only been producing a few tiny blooms (1.5" - 2") since the weather gets hot. I think when the weather gets cooler, it will produce more blooms and bigger blooms. My Ebb Tide looks like it's growing near the top of the fence because it's a 36" standard. I have both hybrid tea standards and floribunda standards and floribunda standards often look better than hybrid tea standards. The red standard is Preference and it is a strong healthy rose and blooms non-stop. Helen...See MoreJuly 2016 Blooms - part 1
Comments (13)Thank you Ingida & Beth. Beth, I got two of my Stranger roses from Burlington and I think she sent me very healthy plants and gave them a good start. Great lady! Is your Strawberry Hill own root? I bought mine from Regan which grafted on Dr Huey. I heard that Austin own root will take a lot of time to be amazing (especially climbers), but I haven't been able to verify it yet since I don't have any own root Austin. I just moved my root bounded Strawberry Hill from a 5-gallon and plant it in the ground next to the fence so I can train them horizontally. I think it will be beautiful when the training is done.
