Part 1: A lot of pics around Orlando Florida April 2011
Comments (14)I was just at Universal Studios for spring break! Just got back home a minute before midnight on Easter! I enjoyed the landscaping just as much as the rides and shows! It's like a botanical garden in a way but most of the plants are not labeled. I was amazed by the size of the sengal date palms! It has so many large trunks. Does anyone have any guess to how old they are? There was also an odd looking smaller tree near (next too) the pond with the tropical lily pads in Jurassic park that I thought was neat. It had no or very few leafs and a few exotic flowers that were white with very stringy petals. I wish I knew the name of that one. The star (confederate) jasmine plants planted at the edges of the parking garages smelled amazing (to me anyway) when on the moving walk way. I also noticed a few sago palms with ripe nuts in the planting near all the flags by the animal show and E.T. ride. The sagos looked very strange. The nuts had brown fuzz all over them. I thought that was intriguing. I wonder what the purpose of the fuzz is. T.J....See MoreApril 2016 Blooms
Comments (20)Wow, how did I miss all this? Gorgeous photos Helen! I actually saw many of them on HMF the other night. I like to check there frequently to see the latest pictures added. I love you photos of NEPTUNE and MUNSTEAD WOOD. I also have Dave's A NIGHT OF MAGIC, but it hasn't done much. My own-root roses take forever to get going even in pots. I'm getting many of his roses in a bed and they maybe will start taking off, I hope. I don't have FLASH NIGHT, but sure wouldn't mind! I've never seen it anywhere around here tho. Dave did send ma a rooted MEGA FLASH and a rooted BUTTERFLY, another striped florist rose. He also sent me several of his stripeys that he may or may not be marketing. Some don't have names, ans some are numbers. My favorite of his roses tho is VAMPIRE. That is such a cool rose. I wish he would get all his creations out there for all of us to enjoy. He has some real beauties! Mostly stripeys too....See MoreApril 2016 Blooms - part 2
Comments (31)The subtle coloration of Julia's Rose combined with her complex bloom structure really make for some high art when you so skillfully photograph her. What an amazing rose. I also enjoyed seeing what a vibrant Memorial Day can look like--I just transplanted mine for the third time, trying to find a sunnier spot for M Day. It was declining and in sad shape, but I'm hoping for a turnaround, and that it will look more like your lovely rose. I haven't seen many photos of Strawberry Hill on the forums, and it is just a fluffy delight. The sweet color makes me want some strawberry ice cream. I love it! Comments (17)Thank you everyone. I'm so looking forward to the fall flush. Anticipation is 1/2 the fun :) Elvi, I ordered Candice from Ludwig's branch in US. Beth mentioned that they are done with this season but you can always order for the next season. The blooms are 3"-3.5". Attached is the full plant in a 21" width x 17" height pot for your reference. I ordered bare root roses online from Regan and picked them up locally to save on the shipping cost. Overall, they have good products. It's better to order the bare roots from them than to buy their potted roses because their potted roses aren't cheap unless they are on sale like last Labor Day. I understand we're in the drought in California, so to water all of the potted roses must be really expensive. On the other hand, if they have something that I really like then I don't mind paying more for a certain rose. Last year I paid something like $45 for a Black Magic potted rose.
