Comments (3)I do not think this should be the case with furniture coming from a store. Did they just make the piece for her before it was delivered? First thing she should do is complain to the store and make sure she can return it if it doesn't go away in a reasonable time. At any rate, if she's going to keep it, she could: a. Put it in the garage or in a storage unit until it is cured. b. Send it back to the store and ask them to keep it there until it is cured. c. Send it back to the store, period. d. Not sure about this one -- but cover it with some plastic to contain the fumes until it cures. If it is really really strong the fumes will still come out. I would do "a" if I really loved the table. Masking the odor is not going to do anything to help, it is the fumes that are the problem....See MoreRemoving Smoke Smell from leather chair
Comments (1)You might talk to a car dealership. I believe they use ionization/ ozone machines (or used to) to remove the smoke smell from a car belonging to a smoker. I used to use one in my home after parties when people used to smoke... they work great....See MoreHow to remove creasote smell from roon
Comments (2)I sympathize with you and I see what our future might have been had we continued to use our fire place. We would get the smell and suffer with it for a week or so before it dissipated. We burned a lot of scented candles. More recently I bought a La-Tee-Da catalytic, scented, alcohol burner with the ceramic burner head. They sell similar ones in cigar shops for more than twice the price. We haven't had a fire since I got the burner, so I can't really comment but the cigar smokers I know all use these burners. I also stay long term in hotels where the smells are not always what you might desire. For those I usually buy a Glade plug-in type of device. They have a wick, heater, and a fan that blows the scent out into the room. I've tried incense in the hotels and that didn't work for me. I think it might have had I been there 24 hours to keep the incense burning....See Morehow do you remove cigarette smoke smell from wood furniture?
Comments (4)Vinegar is a very poor choice for cleaning wood. 1 - Wash ALL surfaces with warm water and a mild soap. Don't forget the underside. Use a toothbrush on the cracks. 2 - Rinse with water and let it dry 3 - Wash all surfaces with mineral spirits and 0000 steel wool or a green scrub pad. Wipe it dry. You should be odor free, grunge free, and ready to paint....See MoreOklaMoni
