Master Bath/Closet Layout - What Do You Think?
Comments (24)Abfabamy, yeah that's a tower with glass either side. The inspiration for this design was actually taken from this bathroom. http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/6334654/thumbs/Gorgeous-Bathrooms- (Ignore the first four pictures [they're from another bathroom] and see the last picture for the shower). I was trying to replicate that design, with a few changes to suit my personal tastes. I could do a half wall, but was trying to keep as much glass as possible, as I much prefer that look. I think there's enough privacy for the toilet behind the tower, and I doubt two people would be using the toilet and shower at the same time. I dunno, it's getting late here, so I'll fiddle around with the design some more tomorrow, see what I can come up with. Thanks x...See MoreMaster bath/closet layout?
Comments (17)It's not terribly different from what you have, but I swapped the toilet and shower locations and rotated the toilet. The toilet and shower locations didn't have to be swapped, but this puts the toilet deeper into the bathroom. I see your current toilet wall is a wet wall, so I'm not sure if moving it messes up your plumbing stacks or not. By rotating the toilet, you get rid of the 60" requirement for water closet depth if you were heading in that direction. If not, it at least eliminates the knee room restrictions for non-closet toilet installations. Now the toilet space only needs to be 30" wide to meet code, but certainly if you can spare six more inches, a 36" wide space would afford more elbow room. Though you changed the closet door to a pocket door, opening the hinged closet door does offer a bit of fake water closet privacy. Rotating the toilet and making the toilet space 36" wide gives you 12 more inches in the shower. A 60" shower instead of a 48" shower. "T" is for towel/robe hooks. "V" is the shower valve so you can turn on the shower without stepping in to the shower. "S" is the shower head. If the toilet did need to stay within the original space, just flip-flop the shower and toilet locations....See MoreRustic guest bathroom finished! White, ivory or gray towels?
Comments (20)Artemis - surprisingly, I haven't had any issues keeping these towels white and I've had them for about 3-4 years. A bright pink item actually snuck into my last load of white towels (which streaked everything pink!) and just one wash with Oxy whitener made them bright white again. They're Charisma towels from Costco so not a great expense to replace if needed. Sheeisback - thanks! I agree about the ivory. The yellow seems okay in person but not quite right in the pictures....See MoreMaster Bath lacks space for a Master Feel?!???
Comments (15)Classic Comfort, great job on post and pics! I am in the same situation with my master bath.. We need to remodel for ourselves now but also consider future sale in (5years?). We have a HUGE corner jacuzzi that has been used a total of 5 times in 13 years, 1 by me the rest by my grandchildren. We have no other tub in the house and our shower is currently really dated but a 2 person space with 1 shower head no body sprays. I plan to remove the tub and re tile that floor area but stub out the water supply and hide it and the drain but leave a diagram so it is accessible if a future owner wants to put in a tub. So a dedicated tub space that I will use for an exercise bike or lounge chair, there is a double sided gas fireplace next to the tub so it could become a reading nook. I have not decided. A future owner could easily put in a freestanding tub or a tub with a deck. We will then gut everything and rework shower access and bathroom access to be ADA approved for easy use of a wheelchair and curbless shower. My husband and I are fully mobile but I figure if I am remodeling and not sure what is in store better to be handicap accessible and not look like it! We are in the San Diego area. This is an expensive remodel but I don't think we can DIY with all the plumbing criteria....See Morejuddgirl2
