If you are using organics, you really don't have to be exact anyway. Pick a low setting and spray away. The worst thing that will happen is that you will have to stand out there spraying for a bit. If it is taking you forever to cover the area, dial it up a bit. Anyway, my rule of thumb would be to start low and adjust upward as necessary. Seaweed is usually on the expensive side, so I wouldn't want to accidentally overapply. It wouldn't hurt the grass, but your pocketbook probably wouldn't appreciate it. If you are really into precision or calculations.... Determine the gallon/minute flow rate of your hose and sprayer. Basically, just turn the setting to "0" and spray into a couple gallon bucket and see how long it takes to fill it. You'll know the size of the bottle you are applying (probably listed in ounces) and they usually list approximate coverage rates. From that, you can pick an application rate (like 1 oz per gallon) and determine how to spray - eg, your hose puts out 2 gallons per minute. At a 1 oz per gallon setting on the sprayer, that would put out 2 oz per minute of product. If 8 oz is supposed to cover 1000 sq ft, then you would know you should be spraying for about 4 minutes for that size area. In that case, you would probably want to pick a slower flow rate - maybe 0.5 oz per gallon - so it don't have to race around the yard.

To add to your comments, sjhockeyfan325, I had never heard of Pacific Sales until I walked into Best Buy and saw their display. It is sort of odd - I don't recall seeing any advertising, however I don't watch tv much. I'm more apt to watch Netflix. The new display was truly amazing (not what I expect from Best Buy) - they had this huge wall interactive display - if I remember correctly it was for just one of the brands. I would love to see stores like that have an app, where you could scan a barcode on an appliance, and it would appear in a mock up of your kitchen. For kitchen design, you should be able to add a floor plan, input an image of doors/colors/countertop, then place virtual appliances. The Pacific Sales/Best Buy in Dedham also had some more mid-range brands, but those high end ones are so beautiful! By the way, I'm glad to see that others are choosing to mix up their appliances - I really think that is the way to go - different brands really do different types of appliances better. Oh, in case anyone is looking to call up the Pacific Sales/Best Buy (I wish they would shorten that name!) the salesman I was speaking with said to not call the main number - it can take a long time. They have a direct line - I just dug the info out of my purse; (781) 320-1894 (the 0 might be a 6 - sorry, I was in a rush). Just saw a bunch of these during a couple days on the western edge of the Big Thicket and don't believe one of them was growing straight... suspect it's an odd tendency they have. Even the ones in the linked photos are leaning a bit. Sorry no personal experience with them, but don't recall many with busted limbs or uprooted in the forest. A relatively uncommon yard tree in Dallas. The only one I know of in our immediate neighborhood is probably about 50+ years old and, though a beautiful tree, also has a pronounced tilt to the left. Might find more experience with these on the GW tree forum.
