Help: Aloe Vera Non-Plumpness!
Comments (4)Take it out of the soil and let dry to restart. Remove all soil with a blast of water from a hose. Then remove any dead leaves, roots, and let dry out in a cool dry location until you see new roots form. Now place in a clean new pot and new soil mix. No Peat Moss. Start it in low light, and gradually move into brighter light until new leaves grows straight up. There are two forms of Aloe Vera, and it can get very rangy in shade and looks horrid. Now be sure to water and feed it regularly in the hot weather, and cut out watering in the winter. It should flower in the Spring. This species will not tolerate extremely cold weather and being wet. Do not water during the cold months and protect under a tree or patio cover when the weather turns cold. Ths species and take a good share of sun. Comments (9)I love DHC too and have been a loyal customer to their olive oil skin care products-I recommend any of their skin care products. I have been using a skin care product that feels similar to it, I use a Neck Cream and Night Cream-part of the Be Fine Food Skin Care collection. The Neck Cream has mushrooms, iris flower and caffeine, all of which help firm, tighten and smooth the skin. I learned that on different parts of your body, the skin has different skin cells and these foods respond well with the skin on the neck as is is absorbed quickly. The Iris flower derived estrogens for tightening while the Caffeine evens out and smoothes the skin, while natural vitamins support collagen production. the night cream has cocoa, millet and rice bran, which help improve the skin's elasticity and support collagen growth. The cocoa's caffeine increases circulation. I bought these at CVS I love these new products and they make facial masks that are equally divine. I hope this helps you on your quest for a good cream....See MoreLooking for a Good Foundation for Mature Skin
Comments (19)My skin tends to get a bit oily, so the products I use wouldn't be of much help. (Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse or L'oreal True Match) However - most companies make formulations for different skin types. L'oreal now has a line targeted for 40-something, 50-something, and 60-something. I was in the local drug store recently, and the cosmetics manager gave me some samples - of the 60-something moisturizer! I'm 41. Poor dear. She must have been all of 20 so to her, everyone looks older. I tried the moisturizer and it was a bit too heavy for me, so it might work very well for dryer skin. I know you're looking for foundation, and they also make a foundation for the same age-category. And a couple of people mentioned that the really expensive, department store cosmetics are a waste of money. I used to work for Estee Lauder, and know for a fact that many of their products were manufactured by exactly the same factories, using exactly the same ingredients (with the possible exception of some added fragrance) as the drug store brands. You're paying for the fancy glass bottles and extra packaging. (at least this was a number of years ago. I kind of think things are still pretty much the same) I work as an actress, and they really do use Max Factor drug-store makeup on film sets. After all, Max Factor invented makeup for use in the film industry, including the first waterproof mascara. The stuff just works! Good luck to you....See MoreNeed recommendations for skin products!
Comments (24)Here's an update - from my sister, the aesthetician: "First of all, make sure she is not using soap on her skin. She needs a good moisturizing cleanser for the face.Scrubbing will also make it worse. If she is on meds, that can cause a change in the skin. Not enough "good" fats in the body. Hot water. Wrong type of moisturizer for her skin type. Change in diet meaning eating something that she might not have been eating before. And as always with us female folk, hormonal changes can play a big part in changes in the skin. It might not be Lubriderm, it might be her body that is changing. I would suggest having a facial treatment with a licensed aesthetician. Ask friends, family, who they have gone to and enjoyed, the same as you would about a doctor or dentist. If she is flaking, it may be the beginning signs of psoriasis or exzema. In that case, she needs to see a physician. I would say a holistic physician since I have been told by some of my clients that the drugs given out by the regular physicians don't do well. There are many more reasons but that is a start." Her answer is much as I suspected - she's been doing this for a VERY LONG time, so I'm used to her responses. If you don't understand something, or have more questions, let me know....See MoreSueb20
