last yearlast modified: last yearWe bought NuCore after reading positive reviews (at the time) and later found it to be complete garbage. We have to redo our floors after less than a year later. This is the only flooring product I have found where you can break off the locking mechanism with one finger. Floor and Decore says this is normal and that you have to install it mroe gently. The locking part of the flooring is coming apart all over the house. I would strongly advise to get almost any other product on the market over this garbage. Don't be the next vicrom of Floor and Decore. I will never buy another product from this company after getting screwed on this defective product and they will find any reason to void your warranty. If your buying it just know there is no actual warranty. Even the inspector that came out sid they never end up giving anyone a warranty. I'm sure the installation wasn't perfect, we did have it professionally installed but I wouldn't risk anything on this product again. Waste of over $6000. If anyone starts a class action lawsuit please message me.

Comments (55)I have bought and installed $3000.00 worth of smartcore pro 1 year ago in my unheated cabin since it said good for extreme temperatures down to 25 degrees below zero and Lowes said it was the best and only flooring that will work for me. The floor started to seperate in December 2020 at 19 degrees. Lowes said they can not help me and to file a claim with Shaw. Shaw sent an independent inspector to see flooring in March 2021. The so called independant inspector came and pretty much told me that his job is to find things to void the warranty so no claims get paid. He crawled on my floor throughout all rooms with a 6 foot level and found one high spot on my l floor that tilted his level uneven. I told him every house built has a joyce that is a little high or a little low. He agreed and said that he goes through million dollar brand new homes and always finds the same. He measured the space at edges an said some spots were too close to wall. I told him nothing expanded or contracted and its the locking that has failed. He also said the floor molding was touching the floor and that will also void a warranty. I told him there are no houses where the wall molding is not touching the floor and that no one keeps a gap below the molding. He agreed but said even if my floor did have more spacing and wall molding had a gap under it that Shaw would still void my claim since he found a joyce high spot. He left and I never had a returned call since March. I even offered to lift my floor and pay the $1.49 per square foot and to have it reinstalled by anyone of thier choice to prove it was not an installation problem and it is a locking failure problem with the flooring. I am a tipical hard working person that saved for two years to buy the best flooring made for my conditions. Shaw or Lowes have not even called me to offer me a solution or any compensation towards my $3000.00 invested. I do not know if my floor will continue to worsen but I do know it will not get better. I told the inspector that if Shaw really wanted to improve thier product that this was the perfect chance. An unheated cabin that temperatures go down to a couple of degrees below zero in the coldest part of the year. I have 8 rental proerties, a house and 2-cabins that I wanted to do all over with this flooring and now I can not trust Shaw flooring or Shaw customer service to correct the failure. My cousin is a contrator that build homes and works with hundreds of other contracors and said that he will no longer use Shaw flooring after he sees what happened to me. SHAME ON YOU SHAW FOR NOT FIXING YOUR FAILED FLOOR LOCKING PROBLEM. I or my cousin will never buy another Shaw product unless this is fixed by compensation or what I prefer which is to lift and reinstall new flooring by anyone of Shaws choice. The cabin next to me installed a cheap laminate flooring from Pergo at 1/2 the price and it has not failed under the same temperatures. Comments (7)I’m new to this... here’s more info regarding LVP /Masland. I have 5 teenagers 2 dogs, and a pool.... hardwoods have taken a beating. I would like to use LVP for better wear, but i haven’t been able to find one I really like the look and feel of,. I was in a large showroom and came across Masland. I liked the color and feel of the product. However, I noticed online that it wasn’t as present as other brands and I couldn’t find any sites that actually reviewed it. Comments (1)Yes. We just put in V-Evo Durato Luxury Vinyl Plank in the color called Beantown throughout our whole house about 2 months ago. We love it! NOW, bought Nucore last August for a new house and had it installed and it looks tearable, the ends don't lock as well as the last floor. After 2 months 65% of the ends are un-locking. I am sure it is a combination of poor installation and poor product. This new floor DOES NOT act like or feel like the first Nucore floor I had. Pretty sure something changed in the manufacturing. Floor and Decore said bad installation and accepted nothing for quality of product. We just tore out a new floor and bought a different vinyl plank product and it looks fantastic! I think we need a CLASS ACTION against Nucore and Floor and Decor!

11 months agolast modified: 11 months agoSince it seems so many of us have had the same experience, I wanted to share my story and see if it helps anyone, or maybe we can even help each other.
What Happened:
I had Nucore LVP professionally installed during a recent renovation in a 1,000sq ft open area. It was around $4.39/sq ft, one of the most expensive Nucore options at Floor & Decor, with the highest quality thickness, scratch resistance, and cork backed. All proper precautions were taken by installers before installation.
Within 1 month after installation, multiple areas of the flooring began to unlock from one-another. Installer came back and attempted a fix by gluing and hammering back into place. It seemed to hold.
A few days after, I moved a portion of my furniture into the house. It was a couch, upright piano, small organ (around 50lbs), and tv stand. Everything was moved by professionals both safely and securely. Nothing dropped or dragged. Main lanes on the floor were covered by thick plastic, and all furniture was covered in blankets. After that move, more separation began to show in other areas of the space (photo attached). It was very easy to push the edges of multiple boards down, and they flexed at the seams. The locking mechanisms were broken or failing in some way (Video of Separation).
I once again alerted the installers and they agreed to redo the job. In the weeks that I waited for the installers to come, more separation, clicks, and pops occurred. The installers double checked all levels before re-installing, and they took photos and video to verify the prep was done correctly in the first place. After they verified everything, they began the new install.
As you can guess, the installers discovered early-on that several new boards had already come unlocked! They informed me as to what was happening, and said they can't in-good-faith continue. We all decided to hold off and come up with a plan.
Nucore Warranty Claim:
We decided to just re-install the entire space with a new flooring brand, and submit a claim to recover the $6,000+ spent on flooring. We submitted a claim that included photos, videos, and applicable info to verify the install was done correctly. After a couple weeks, Nucore responded by saying we need a flooring inspection to verify that it was NOT the fault of the installers. Fortunately our flooring contractors fronted the cost of the inspection ($750 I think it was). After several more weeks, the inspector came.
Flooring Inpsection:
The inspector's report verified that the installation wouldn't have caused the separation in the flooring. Great news right?? It also noted multiple times in his report that the flooring "seemed weak" in the locking components.
But here's where it gets bad... He went on to say in his report that the flooring had been installed "again and again" which is likely the reason for the the weak locking he observed. This was simply untrue as it was installed ONE TIME!
His final reason for the flooring failure across the ENTIRE space, was that me and my wife... I quote... "dragged a piano several times back and forth across the floor" lol. HE DIDN'T EVEN ASK US ABOUT THE PIANO! Not only did the problem exist BEFORE the piano was in the house, but the piano only moved about 10 ft from the front door on a furniture dolly, and was lightly placed in it's spot by piano movers! We never moved it after that.
Basically, his report was full of BS. He didn't have a real reason for the flooring failure. But instead of blaming the flooring itself, blamed the homeowner for moving their furniture in the house??? It doesn't make any f'in sense.
Where We're At Now:
The inspector report just came in yesterday. After speaking with the installer and sharing our proof that the flooring had issues BEFORE we moved any furniture or pianos, we all decided to try and get the inspector to update his report. Along with plenty of indisputable video and timestamped evidence, I also sent the inspector dozens of nucore complaints that match our situation (there are SO many out there). Unfortunately, Floor & Decor does not allow reviews on their site so I couldn't check there (I wonder why that is...?).
Now we're just crossing our fingers. If the inspector fails to update his report, or finds another reason to blame me and my wife, we are out $11,000. That is not a small amount to us. We already had to take out a loan to get the flooring replaced.
I've seen some comments all over the internet about class action lawsuit. Admittedly I'm hoping we win this claim and can move on with our lives (and a new flooring that ISN'T Nucore), but if we don't, we want to be part of that conversation. Even if we do win the claim, I'd still be happy to share my photos, videos, and hopefully even the photos and videos from our flooring installers, to help anyone who's been affected.
They've been producing this sub-par trash for years it seems. While some are lucky enough to buy a good batch, many of us are left with defective garbage and a warranty process that is too expensive for many to even afford, and almost impossible to win!

7 months agolast modified: 7 months agoI have Nucore Performance and haven't had an issue with it so far. It cleans easily, looks great, and installed easily. Paint and drywall mud was easily cleaned off, as was urine from my dogs. I moved a heavy desk and no denting from it or my office chair.
