Spider lilies from fridge...

I received some bulb last spring with the intent of planting them before it got too hot here in central TX, but it didn't happen. So, I put them in a vegetable drawer of our garage refrigerator hoping to 'preserve' them for later.

I really don't have any idea if this was a good idea or not, but do you think they are o.k. and/or should I go to the trouble of planting them this fall or just get some new bulbs? Thanks for any thoughts.

P.S. Anyone know the best month to plant this kind of bulb here?

Are they red? If so plant them now!!! They may not bloom this fall, as the bulb gets it nourishment from the greenery, but they should still at least have greenery this fall.

I am interested in both of the hibiscus and the columbine. I have LOTS of daylilies if you are interested in those. Hmm, I'm coming to this thread quite late in the game . . . But, if you're still looking, I have some fun stuff you might like. I have lots of big white callas (the traditional callas that get to about 3'-4' tall), fragrant yellow ginger (Hedychium flavescens), lots of Red Hot Pokers, white Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus) and other things on my trade list. Jeremy, I'm in the midwest and I do grow them. I don't know about the flooding aspect but I do know that they grow quite freely in your area. I have clay soil and planted my bulbs 6 inches, it might work its way deeper. Please note that it might 1 to 3 years for it to bloom. My first one took 2 years before it finally bloom but so worth it.
