Hidden critter Tuesday
Comments (23)That is what I found, just didn't know what it was. The first of the two pictures you posted yesterday, to show what we're looking for, threw me off. I thought it was actually part of the puzzle picture, and I couldn't find anything like it anywhere in it! I have learned something today, (always a good thing) the creature is entirely new to me! Rusty...See MoreTuesday's Tantalizing Treasures
Comments (15)In some ways I have experimented about the blotching. Since I grow in smallish pots I can move them under my porch to protect them from morning dew. It does seem to help quite a bit. But this is limited by the available room on my back porch, and doesn't help those in the ground. The baggy solution that is used on roses would have to be more monitored on daylilies then roses so that the bag was removed at just the right stage. I don't know how long a daylily bloom can be confined to a bag that won't allow it to fully open before the bloom would be permanently harmed. AND too, even with the bag solution, if Thrips are the problem then you may already have trapped a few when you put on the bag. One of the reasons I became enamored with daylilies is that I didn't have to fuss with all this, so I will leave the baggy experiment to some early riser who wants to play scientist.........Maryl...See MoreTuesday's Trivia Quiz
Comments (6)If I wasn't highly allergic to stinging insects, I'd love to keep a hive. Every plant I grow (and it's a lot) is for one type of critter or another. Come to think of it, I could keep a hive since I'm always in close quarters to them. But I couldn't harvest the honey ;)...See MoreSome New Daylilies and Some Clumps for Tuesday
Comments (11)Sour Puss this year has eaten up most of my "film" it's been so pretty, but next to that is Pink Aloha. I adore this flower when she gets it right - and mostly she does. I call her a she because she does go her own way as you described.....Kindred Jewel is my WOW one of this group. I hope this makes it long term for you...........I saw Elizabeth Hewitt in the Blueridge line up and thought how pretty it was. See how colorfast it is if you get a chance.............Isn't it nice when people tell you how much they enjoy your garden. I just have a small display anymore, but people still will stop my DH if he's out in the yard and compliment him on it. He smiles and nods with smug satisfaction. Outside of tote that barge and lift that bale (much appreciated of course), he has zero to do with it. As we say down south "Bless his little heart" lol...............Maryl...See More- 10 years ago
