Comments (9)Wow, that sure is a lot of buds on MOROCCO! And your pic of the DOMINIC triplets is great, I always love how handsome he is. Casey...See MoreTuesday's Twelve Treasures (photos)
Comments (30)Lisa - I think Asian Fairy Bluebird looks a lot like Lambertson's website photo. Of course, I took my photo in the shade. This flower does look much bluer in the shade than in the sun. While the bloom is gorgeous, the plant has not been a good performer for me. Bud counts are low and not every mature fan puts up a fan. It does multiply well though. Jean - Thanks for your comments. W. Good Old Days is an excellent performer. I'm really enjoying that clump this season. Debra...See MoreTuesday's Treasures
Comments (12)kay - I was really surprised about those wide edges on My Heart Belongs to Daddy. I've seen so many photos on NGA where it didn't have an edge at all. It's quite dramatic when it looks this way! Kate - Yellows are not my favorite, but I'm partial to any seedling that has so many buds. Hoosier Nancy - Thanks for your comments on the seedlings. Royal Invitation is a great one, but I've only found one parent that will work to set seed on it. It's finnicky. The pollen doesn't seem too potent either. Maryl - I like your favorites list! Those three are probably my favorites too. Julia - Thanks for you comment about the last seedling. The petals did not start rolling back until the third and fourth blooms. I really like that look. Comments (21)Debra: I've seen a few Fig Beetles off and on over the years here. One year we had enough that I looked them up to see if they would damage anything. They didn't seem to bother my flowers. However, Buster Brown (our lovable but dufus cat) dug a grub up from the ground and was walking around carrying it in his mouth. It was huge. He continued to do this for the next few days having great fun in the process. He never did eat one (I made sure of that), but found them interesting to dig up and carry around for a reason known only to him and his little cat brain. If these grubs eat plant roots (and I'm sure they do) they would have to eat a lot of them to reach that size. That definitely could do some damage to a smaller plant like a daylily...................Maryl...See Moreshive
