Dry and cool will work for both. Don't freak out if they try to start growing in February. Just keep them away from light and they should do fine. The only time I refrigerate is when I want to start something earlier than when the ground warms up normally. I have just removed(last week) Amaryllis from fridge and potted up for Christmas blooms. I have also put Mandevilla, Angel Trumpets, Bananas and Musaenda in garage(unheated) for winter storage. They will go dormant but stay alive and well for earlier start in spring.

Hmmm maybe it's yeast, I thought it was fungus but I may have misunderstood. It's a wet, black goo that stinks if we don't clean it out regularly. Max is taking ketoconozole orally and that helps when I canget him to swallow it. I am returning the food. I like what I feed them but I might look into s no grain food as Max does tend to be heavier than he needs to be, but Z is the perfect weight. She is a lot more active than he is tho. Someone suggested vagisil but I thought that was weird but might try it if I can't get Max's ears to calm down. Guess the daily monitoring is just another part of being a good pet parent. We've got 4 dogs but Maxie's my boy...fell in love with him at first sight. I just can't understand how people can be cruel to dogs and get rid of them when they just don't fit their ideals anymore. Sorry, my rant of the day. Max was a rescue who'd been neglected & abused before he was saved and I met him.

DH had a three-diamond ring made for me from the diamond in my engagement ring, my mother's engagement ring, and a diamond in my grandmother's ring. It was fortuitous that the two side diamonds were almost a perfect match in size, weight, and clarity. Anyhoo, he had the ring made in white gold because I'm not a yellow gold girl. He originally wanted it done in platinum to match my wedding band, but when we found out the cost (because of the total weight of the setting), we thought we'd be less frivolous and go with white gold. I do have certain skin allergies, but I had been wearing my grandmother's white gold ring with no problem. After less than a week, I noticed that the color on the band appeared to be changing, and my fingers were starting to itch slightly. At first I thought it was my imagination, but after a few more days, I knew something was up. I took it back to the jeweler, who said that I probably was one of those folks whose chemical make-up has a reaction to certain alloys. Since white gold is a mixture of yellow gold mixed with alloys to make it appear white, the yellow gold was "surfacing" which was turning the band a yellowish cast, as well as making my skin itch from the alloy. Strange but true. The jeweler said they could coat it with rhodium, but that it would more than likely happen again. And again. Allergies to white gold are very common, as well. After doing some research, I discovered that re-coating a white gold ring with rhodium every few years is not uncommon. Talk about high maintenance. We opted to have the setting re-done in platinum. Granted, it cost almost twice as much as the white gold setting, but I am so happy we did. The additional benefit is knowing that platinum is hypoallergenic. And it is a gorgeous metal, developing a patina over time.

What allows yeast to grow to abnormal amounts on the skin and ears, or other parts of the body is due to an off pH balance. An ear canal that is irritated from food or airborne allergies the dog starts scratching bacteria gets in with ear wax then attracts yeast spores to germinate. This whole process usually starts with allergies either atopy or food and until you get to the cause it usually becomes a vicious cycle. First you need to have the ear debris cultured, apply the meds given than try and work on the cause. From a diet perspective which is also the easiest fix is to try eliminating as may grains from the diet as possible starting with wheat. In fact finding a grainless diet is the most productive with ruling out food allergies. Second is atopy reasons which is the hardest to fix. Dogs that have allergies to grasses, pollens, molds etc. need to avoid these things as best possible and need some xtra care in treating the problems as well. Antihistamines, fish oil, desensitizing treatments are all that's available but not all work.When ever I am helping with a yeast problem I always try the diet route first and many times that's all it takes, but there are alot of hard core atopy allergies that require more treatments. Just remember not all ear problems are yeast and not all are bacterial, sometimes they are one or the other many times both and need to be cultured to treat both correctly.
