Pedestal Sink
Comments (7)My parents bought the house in Peoria, Illinois, to accommodate my addition to the family. I was child #3, and they moved in during May of 1941. They were the 2nd owners of that house, and they never replaced the sink. It was a beautiful, classic sink, much nicer than most pedestal sinks I see today. I liked the rim for holding the toothpaste while brushing my teeth or being able to park my makeup bottles on the edge as I daubed my face with this and that. I remember as far back as the middle or late 1940s. I hope you see this answer to your questions. Your email would not allow me to reply....See MoreWhite Toto and pedestal sinks
Comments (15)I was surprized to see this thread reappear and thank you for the pictures. I did go with the toto/colonial white toilet and the retrospect however they will not be installed until May or June. I did call both companies and they sent samples which helped. I ended up ordering the colonial for all three bathrooms because it seemed to go best with the Porcher in one bath and the Bain white tub in the MB. I am a bit concerned about the height of the retrospect but it is in a guest house and I couldn't find anything else I liked in that size or price range. runninginplace one of my baths will be very much like yours, I love yours. My floor will be black because I am afraid of having to clean the white. Is your's white? how is the upkeep? Is the cabinet from Restoration? I am looking for one but Restoration didn't fit into my budget. tugran...See MoreProjects for the 1948 Cape
Comments (6)Thanks for supplying the word for me, Nancy. I sometimes LOSE words. And awesome what Salvation Army is doing to take advantage of the finer things donated to them. I hope we can find a place that will come pick them up, because we cannot transport anything like big chests etc in a car. And DH will NOT allow anyone to come to his house, or bother with a yard sale. Just not done in his lifetime. He almost has the cast iron bath tub removed from the downstairs bathroom. If I had insisted on it coming out, I do not think he would have voluntarily removed it. I was just thinking to have it reglazed white, but he has now torn out the alcove which contained the tub, and soon will have the tub flange freed up for disposal. I suppose someone who likes blue bath fixtures would like to have the tub, toilet and sink. And the blue tiles. However, I've never in my life liked blue inside a house, it always sucks the light and life out of a room (personal opinion, not fact), and it depresses me no end. You cannot beat WHITE fixtures in a bathroom. However, I know they ask a pretty penny for high gloss black glazed fixtures...and red too. But OMG how could you tell if you have a health problem with RED glazed fixtures!!!! Do not take it personally if you have colored fixtures, I'm just expressing my personal philosophy here. The economy here is none too good either. A house around the corner from us, but on a much busier street, was put up for sale, I think a foreclosure. Brick veneer, ranch, big lot with good elevation, but it is built on a slab, and the price is $45,000. I wonder what will happen there. Comments (60)Yes, I wish I had a little alcove space in my half-bath like Bob's to cradle a sink like that. I also wish the arrangement of my room was like all the powder rooms pictured above, walking in FACING the fixtures. Instead, you walk in facing a window, and the sink is to the immediate right, and the toilet is on the same wall to the left of the sink. You lose a lot of the beauty of the fixtures that way. I love looking straight into the room to see the sink right there. As we've seen from all the pics posted here, a sink and faucet are not merely utilitarian fixtures. They can serve as striking sculpture! (Ditto the toilet actually! There are some beautiful ones out there now!). I'll try to make the best of the configuration I have. (If someone will get their caboose over here to help me with my project!)...See More- 7 years ago
