Help!! Should cabinets be semi gloss or satin?
Comments (8)Hi BINK. I think the oil is fine. Rhome410, among many others here, painted hers in the oil and has been very happy for a number of years, I was just afraid of the yellowing that occurs with oil paint over time so went with the waterborne. Any cab color I tried with the least amount of yellow in it looked horrible with my gray-ish Carrara. My floors are white oak as I didn't want the redness of the red oak. They are finished in Bona. The stain is a mix of 75% Jacobean and 25% Black Coffee (similar to Black Walnut). I sometimes wish they were darker, but the I have a hard enough time keeping them looking clean with three cats running around. Darker would make the cat hair stand out so much more. No offense to anyone with partial overlay, but I wouldn't want it in my kitchen either. It definitely looks great with some eras, but not with the look I was trying to achieve. I would have loved inset also, but couldn't afford the extra cost. Unfortunately, my zone 8 is Washington state. Sorry! Looking forward to seeing your kitchen!...See MorePictures of cabinets with BM White Dove?
Comments (5)Thanks so much for your kind comments about my kitchen. Yes, the cabinets are new. My hope was just to replace the doors and add beadboard to the back of the boxes. But, when we tried to add the beadboard it was too thick so my dinner plates no longer fit in the cabinet. It was cheaper at that point to just have new boxes made. Any cabinet maker can make you new glass front doors. Good Luck!!...See MoreOMG my Alabaster White looks GREEN!!??? Only on Kitchen Cabinets
Comments (9)Thanks Lori. The color I used in the kitchen and hallways was Shiny Lister by Behr. I used Distant Star in the bathrooms which is more of a blue gray but looks very blue in my master bathroom and grey blue in my downstairs bathroom. I have tile that are cream and I think that is bringing out the blue in my master. I am making the switch to SW Big Chill for hallways and bedrooms and then SW light French gray for bathrooms. The kitchen I am doing SW functional grey. These are all more black/brown undertones so hopefull it will look better! Attached are more photos, you can tell my living room looks lilac and hallways look blue as well as kitchen, and they are all painted Shiny Luster...See MoreCan SW Origami White work with SW Pure White trim?
Comments (86)Hi! Yes, I think Bona high traffic. Or maybe that was the sealer they used. I think they used Dura Seal. Just found this sample sheet in my kitchen draw. We used the middle sample. QC 11 Hope this helps! We put a matte finish on the floors. Very little shine to it. It’s great but note that if you go that route. You can’t really scoot things that would scratch across the wood. It removes the matte and you will see a sheen streak in the right lighting or angle. Just a heads up if you go that route. Not too big of a deal, if you know in advance. We pic up and slide anything a tad heavy. Pads for bar stools etc.. Best of luck! Lmk if you have any more questions 😊...See Morejacissa
