Are you quilting this weekend? June 12-14
Comments (22)I had to google "blue-tailed skink." They look like the geckos we have in Hawaii, except for the color. We probably have some lizardy-looking little guys around here too, but I haven't seen any lately - just some garter snakes that like to hang out in the rocks down by the lake. We had a loon's nest across the bay from us near my neighbor's dock. There were two eggs in it, and the parents seemed quite vigilant. Two eagles would sit on a tree branch above the nest, waiting, I suppose, for the eggs to hatch. The parents scolded the eagles endlessly. Then one day the eggs were gone - no shells, no sign of disturbance. My neighbor said she saw a mink swimming around the nest. We think the mink beat the eagles to their meal. We were so looking forward to watching the baby loons. About five years ago, two babies and their parents spent the summer on our bay. We could drive quite close to them in our boat and watch the parents feed the babies or watch the babies ride on their parent's back. It was like a National Geographic special right in our backyard. Oh, well, as my husband says, "There are no happy endings in nature."...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Feb. 12-14
Comments (16)It's a 3 day weekend for me, so I plan on getting the binding on two quilts. The first is an blue and white Irish chain, the second a mod fabric rectangle quilt which Lois gave me the pattern direction years ago, it only took 2-3 years to finally finished the quilting! I sent the Irish chain to MSQ for the quilting, first time I've ever sent a quilt out for quilting and I was very pleased with the results and the price...MSQ gets my recommendation for quilting. It's freezing here all weekend, teens with below zero wind chills, so I'm staying put in the sewing room. stay warm and happy sewing! V....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? May 12-14
Comments (12)I might. There might not be the usual Mother's Day deal since hubby has been sick with a lung infection. He finally went to Doc yesterday and got some antibiotics and prednisone. He has COPD and unwisely was out last weekend in the heat and smoky environment all day. Doc told him he can't do that. We've been having all these brush and forest fires all around and it's been pretty bad even for those who don't have issues. I just don't want my son and family around in case he has anything contagious, they don't need to be getting sick here right at the end of the school year and their mom is a teacher and she doesn't need it either....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (11)Donna - if you have a stop in Skayway and Ketchikan, there are quilt shops!! Have a wonderful trip. We dropped our exchange students off today for a week at our Lions camp in southern Colorado. Phew. They come back to us next Saturday then on the plane home on Sunday, the 20th. Now I have a week to get ready to get everything ready for a 2-1/2 week RV trip. DH is bicycling from Yellowstone to Glacier National Park with a friend. The women are driving the RVs and doing the cooking so the guys only have to ride. We hope to get to Casper, Wyoming on Monday, the 21st, in time to see the eclipse. I hope this week I can pull together some fabrics I need for an applique project (how I hate applique!) that I can take with me. Sue...See Morejackier123
