I have no obligations for the weekend so I plan to sew! I may take a break and clean the house Sunday morning while DH is at church.

This is the first Mother's Day without my mom, so it will be a hard day. :(

I was working on my One Block Wonder last night. It's 3/4's pieced. I think the fabric I bought for the backing will make a great narrow first border, and then the border and I'm finished (except for deciding how to quilt it and doing it, of course), I also made five scrappy log cabin blocks. We have company coming over tomorrow evening and my daughter and her husband are coming over for Mother's Day brunch on Sunday. We've been planting garden pots and washing windows and cleaning our pontoon boat. Spring is a busy time of year. But I love to quilt in the evening while watching something mindless on Netflix. I've been Into mystery series lately. I loved Wallander and Shetland, both from the BBC, I think. Happy Mother's Day, everyone.

Donna, tomorrow will be a melancholy day for you. Just remember the good times and how lucky you were to have her as long as you did.

I might. There might not be the usual Mother's Day deal since hubby has been sick with a lung infection. He finally went to Doc yesterday and got some antibiotics and prednisone. He has COPD and unwisely was out last weekend in the heat and smoky environment all day. Doc told him he can't do that. We've been having all these brush and forest fires all around and it's been pretty bad even for those who don't have issues. I just don't want my son and family around in case he has anything contagious, they don't need to be getting sick here right at the end of the school year and their mom is a teacher and she doesn't need it either.

I hope everyone is feeling better, quickly! We have been lucky so far avoiding the junk that has been going around.

I would like to get some quilting done on a couple of charity quilts that I have sandwiched, but need to spend time outside working on the yard. After a repair reconstruction of our porch last summer (and fall and winter!!) our front yard needs to be completely redone. Waiting for the landscapers to let me know when they can strip the sod, level, and re-sod. UGHH. I have to move rock and do some weeding! At least the weather will be nice and warm.

Rita, we were in Jacksonville last Saturday, and ash was falling out of the sky! Visibility was very poor as well. We heard on the news that it was from a large fire in the Okefenokee Swamp.

We have a quiet weekend at home since all our kids are far away. But, it will give me time to put sashings and borders on my new applique project. I just love this one (and you will, too). Borders will be a hard decision since I have so many choices. I'll also visit my friend's pattern box to find my next one. I'm also working on the Hawaiian blocks which goes on and on. I have 8 of 16 done so far. Happy Mothers Day to all of you!

Not sure if I will get any sewing done this weekend. I have been suffering from a skin ailment on my hands that is taking multiple layers off and making them really sore. I have not sewn in weeks because of it. My dermatologist has been treating it for 8 weeks now and it still is not totally healed. I have lots to do if I ever make it back in the sewing room. :)

Oh, Jackie, hands are so sensitive and because we use them all the time, they heal so slowly. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Let's hope you are near the end and will be able to get back to sewing quickly.

spent the day in ER. I quite often have reflux episodes. This was one I couldn't handle at home. So after three blood workups, two xrays, two iv bags and a lot of just lying there, I am home. And in bed, my own. Still not totally pain free but it will ease gradually.

I hope everyone feels better soon. Jackie, my mother had problems with the skin on her hands too. It was hard to get them to heal. My son-in-law has fallen victim to the crud going through the family. I'm the only hold-out! I have been coughing but feel OK.

Jackie - Sorry to hear about your problems getting your hands to heal. Hand issues are so difficult to work through and still be able to function. And Theresa - so sorry to hear that you spent some time in the hospital. I do hope you get to feeling better so you can be up and around.
