How old is too old?
Comments (3)Most of the freezing guidelines take into account aesthetics, quality, AND safety. Foods dry out, get freezer burn, etc. in the freezer rather than spoil. If they look, smell, and taste OK, there really isn't a safety issue. I wouldn't use anything questionable to make another product, it would be a waste of time to make something from sub-par ingredients. It wouldn't be a safety issue, but your quality might suffer, even to the point of being unpalatable if they were freezer burnt or something. Thaw your products, smell, taste, inspect. If they are OK, I wouldn't hesitate to use them in jams. Deanna...See MoreHow old is too old to wear jeans?
Comments (69)You know, I remember when only farmers wore jeans or denim. It was prohibited in high school by our dress code, even. Now they are everywhere! OK, I'm way out of my league here, LOL. I don't have enough clothes to wait weeks between wearings. I used to have office/work clothes and farm clothes and nothing in between. Now I have no use for business suits and that single pair of black pumps that I wore with everything. I'm 5'2" and do not have long legs. I also have a big bust and short waist, no jeans look good on me, they either come up to my ribcage or they fall off my butt (or both, I can't figure out how that works) I hate 'em all but I'm far more likely to go with jeans that feel less awful (none are comfortable) than choose them based on how they look. Since I'm retired my wardrobe now consists of one pair of Carhartt sweat pants, two pairs of dress slacks, one pair of capri pants, half a dozen assorted t shirts, both long and short sleeved, a couple of long sweater/cardigans and a zip up sweatshirt (black) and you have my entire wardrobe. I never wear jewelry other than my wedding ring, I haven't put on a pair of earrings in years, I didn't even wear them to Ashley's wedding. Shoes? I have one pair of black Avia sneakers, one pair of muck boots (also black and not the $100 ones either, the $11 ones from Tractor Supply, goes with everything, even those maroon Carhartt sweatpants), one pair of snow boots, one pair of white flip flops and one pair of black Skecher flats. Although I've been to Chico's, I've never been able to actually spend what they want for clothes, regardless of size. In spite of my completely non-existent fashion sense and my woefully inadequate wardrobe, which I did not realize was woefully inadequate until this very instant, I still don't think you're ever too old to wear jeans, if you want to wear 'em. And yes, I realize that a very large percentage of my woefully inadequate wardrobe is black. I like black, it goes with everything and I don't have to think about matching, I'll wear it until they invent a darker color.... Annie...See MoreHow old is 'too old' for paint?
Comments (12)If it has never been opened, it should be ok. The only way it ages in a sealed can is by slow loss of solvent if the seal is not perfect and by settling. A good shaking at your local hardware store should mix it up well. Here's what to do. Prep your doors; Take one door off and lay it on your fixture for painting the first side. Shake the paint. Get a test scrap of wood. Open the can and test on the scrap piece. If it spreads ok and the color is right, start on the doors. If the paint is spoiled, get a new can of paint and continue....See MoreSo, how old is too old?
Comments (38)I don't think age has much to do with it. If you're going to fall you are going to fall. I do think there is a time in your life where you should not be thinking you are 25 years old anymore!!!! Saturday morning we got up to wet carpet along an outside wall. Our buildings are almost like a T in shape. The snow and ice in a valley of the roof was melting (in the 30's the two days before) the water ran down the valley behind the vinyl siding to where it met the cement floor, then ran in somehow. DH has used the roof rake at least 3 times this winter pulling piles and piles and piles of snow off the roof. You stand on the ground to use a roof rake. DS got up on the roof and used a snow shovel to clear the roof also. So 4 times its been cleaned off, but still a bad ice jam snow layer in this valley where the two roofs meet. DH got up on the roof Saturday to shovel again, only in some spots this time because the snow was so packed down with the winds we've had he couldn't get it with the roof rake. He is not in top shape, he isn't out of shape either. He slipped on ice and started falling head first toward the parking lot pavement. He was trying to twist himself around so that when he fell he would fall on a side, arm,leg anything but his head. It happened so fast he couldn't get twisted around. So he "spread eagled" out as much as he could to try and stop himself with his hands and his feet. He stopped with his chin 4 inches over the eavetrough! Scared the beejeepers out of him and me too! It all happened in the blink of an eye there was very little time to react. When I think about how he'd have landed if he'd hit the pavement (on his head) and how he could have been hurt I get so mad at him!!!!!!!! Leave it alone, I'd rather do anything to cope with a problem then to have him permenently injuried!!! He does not need to think he is 25 years old and can do anything anymore. He is 56!!! Bottom line my opinion NOW is nobody needs to be on a roof unless you have proper shoes and a safety belt!!! I don't care how young or old you are....See Morepetra_gw
