We had a great time meeting and getting to know Nanny 98 and her husband. The food at the Hometown Buffet was very good but the noise was horrible. Both Ellie and I have hearing aids and the sound of clattering dishes and silver ware was horrible.

It was so nice to finally getting to meet Ellie as we have tried several times to join up. We have decided that we will be making the trip every year to see Bobby and his little family. We want to get to know Alayna better and be a part of her life. Medford where Ellie lives is right on the way to where Bobby is and they have everything we need.

We went back the next day to go to Walmart and discovered that there is a Costco next to it so we hit both places.

While we were at Joseph Stewart State Park we went to see Crater Lake. We had been there twice before and had to climb a snowbank to see the lake. This time we got to see the beautiful blue water and just a little bit of snow. It sure was cold when we got into the wind. The car thermometer said it was 58 degrees at some of the overlooks. I will post pictures this week while we have internet.

Today we had along drive of a little more than 300 miles. We finally arrived at the KOA after 6 this evening. The boys were so patient about getting their dinner late. They usually eat at 5 and it was after 7 when they finally got fed. Luckily we had leftovers so it didn't take too long to get us something to eat.

We are in the back row of the campground and the train runs behind where we are parked. There is one more short row behind us (lucky them). The train blows its whistle when it is coming and when it has gone by. It is so loud that it could literally wake the dead. I guess it runs all night as at 1:35 the train came through with whistle blaring. Mike never said anything so I guess it didn't bother him. Luckily without m hearing aids I won't be bothered much.

Well I had better hit the hay as it is after 2 in the morning here. Tomorrow is cleaning/laundry day. Mike will also attempt to fix the water line. It doesn't seem like we have been on the road a week.

This is kind of hard to do. It greatly depends on where in Oregon you are. Oregon has so many different climates it's insane. There are beaches, mountains, valleys, deserts, forests, and everything in between. Not to mention the tiny banana belts. I live in Molalla which is a town twenty minutes from every other city (Woodburn, Canby, Salem, Colton etc.) and during the winter everyone else gets snow and we get little to none. Climate-wise I personally wouldn't live anywhere else, besides countries like Scotland, which has a climate very similar to Oregon. When it comes to the people I'd say for the most part everyone is extremely friendly. There are definitely a bunch of hippy people but I love being environmentally conscious so I love that most others here keep all of the nature that Oregon is known for relatively clean. And as for me, I like living in my "small, economically-distressed rural town." Sure, in Oregon the cost of living is higher, but there are definitely ways around spending a bunch of money, especially with the abundance of farmer's markets and small town prices. That's another reason I love living in a small town, the store and shop owners actually work in their stores and are so friendly they'll dish out discounts just because they want to. I think that's one of the main reasons I love living here. The people really are, for the most part, very cool and kind. Also if you have land, like a lot of Oregonians, you won't have to pay for water or garbage since you'll have a well and can burn and compost. Of course, being a native, I have to tell you that you have to be extremely careful about what you burn and when and so on and so forth, but it's worth mentioning. And since you're on a gardening website I'm assuming you might be planning on growing some of your own food and herbs, and that will cut down greatly on cost. Also, Costco and Walmart are musts. It may not be fashionable to shop at bargain stores, but it sure saves you a lot of money!

Lizy...It's the vintage PLAZA I used to stay in LOL not the Park. I always use the wrong name and have to look them up when I'm booking so I can get the right one. We were looking at the Park in Seattle for our last trip (couple of weeks ago) so I guess I had that on my mind. If you son has been there for over 3 years...thank him for many lovely nights of business travel (I was one time upgraded to the apartment...very cool). Our bathtub was purchased because of my stays at the Plaza. We have the 30" deep round soaking tub that they have in their guest rooms (or in many of them). I'd never seen one until I became a regular guest and HAD to have one at hoome! I called and wanted to find out what brand they were and couldn't get an answer until I spoke with the then GM who provided me with the information :) I wonder if it was him? Anyhoo, Kimpton has gotten to be a bigger chain and in a great way. We stayed there a week last month (in Seattle) and loved it every bit as much as I used to love the Plaza :)

Alas, summer rain is pretty deadly to these bulbs... And you have a lot of that past that storm line that runs through Nebraska. I forgot one. Calochortus macrocarpa. A true desert dweller, this one only grows out on the east side of the cascades where they get 10 or so inches of rain each year. As a July bloomer, it's not a fun one to find: wandering the desert in July is hot work. Worthwhile to make time for the trip at least once, though. On a trip to Wyoming we saw this species: nuttallii. Quite nice and rather abundant on the hills. Ihave a few additional species in pots at home, here they are without additional yammering. Nice Jean, I'm guessing your machine like mine uses more water than modern machines? I don't really know how much water mine uses but I think I'll hand fill it and find out lol. About turning the knob back..my son Matt stopped in and seen me do this and said mom thats a huge waste of water..lol...until he realized it was continuing to wash with its existing water and detergent, but still thinks if I have to do this I need a new machine. I told him flat out this one stays until it suffers total death or until I get my other 3 appliances paid off. Lol. Glad you had good results with the Platinum Jean and will be looking forward to your Smarty Tab review.

When we were at Crater Lake there was very little snow. That was 20 years ago. I am sure that the area is just as beautiful now as it was then.

Glad your adventures are going well in spite of the water line problems. Bet you can't wait to get to Bobby's to hug and hold little Alayna!

Well the water problem is fixed. Mike and I went to the hardware store yesterday and he bought what he needed to fix the problem. I am so lucky he was taught by his father to do many things. We came back to the RV and within half an hour we had running water. It sure is good to be able to turn on the faucet again. We now have 10 gallons of water in the shower.
