My bathroom is done, and the home improvement is over for now!
Comments (18)Thank you so much! I see names above whose spaces I have admired and ogled many a time. It's very rewarding to have you all comment on mine. Here are some specifics: Bluekitobsessed: The paint is Devine Tide. In my experience, the saturated Devine paint colors IÂve used act as pleasing background elements rather than as a main event. This project included painting the hallway also and I used BM Buxton Blue. A lovely, sweet color, very pretty. But I find it stands out as a major player. The Devine color feels not as prominent, even though darker. So if your mother is worried about being overwhelmed by color, I donÂt think this paint will be problematic. Mooie, the clock is mine. It is killing me not to have a clock in the bathroom. I know it is peculiar, but I will probably put one back in that space over the door. All cabinets and vanity are Plato in cherry. They are custom. The wall tiles are plain old Dal-tile, arctic white with white grout. The floor tiles are Crosstile Buenos Aires Mood (porcelain) in the color Polo with quartz color grout. The 12 by 12 tiles are matte and textured, the 6 by 6 tiles are polished. The pebbles in the two niches are Momiscalco Botany Bay Pebbles in sea green. The sink is from Ronbow. The fused-glass piece on the window was made by a local glassmaker. We went over to her shop and designed the piece--picked various colors/shapes/textures under her direction, and she fused the glass and placed it on the window with four tiny dots of silicone. It was fun! The idea to put a piece of stained glass on the window was from a Garden Webber and solved the problem of how to have both light and privacy. The tub is a Kohler Archer and it is acrylic. I love it and find it an improvement over cast iron, which I was loath to part with (I loved my old tub, though you can see its best days were past). The acrylic is warm but not in a sickly way, and I believe, based on no facts, just my experience, that it holds heat better and longer. It is deeper, though narrower and shorter (or shorter feeling because of the sloped back). That works fine for us. It is not period, but perhaps if people in 1919 had an option, they might not have hauled a cast-iron beast up the steps. Ease of maintenance and whether it holds up over time are issues I canÂt address yet....See MoreDoes anyone have BM Beach Glass in bathroom?
Comments (5)Hi GillyLily, I did a search on the forum and didn't find any pictures with BM Beach Glass (I was curious myself). However, if you go to www.bing.com and select images from the left nav, enter Benjamin Moore Beach Glass, you'll get images returned of rooms that have this paint color. It's a beautiful color!!! Really really pretty. It looks especially good with tans and browns. Let us know what you decide....See More2 out of 4 bathrooms done...we're getting there (pics)!
Comments (17)The curved shower rods - if you have one, try Home Goods. They usually carry several at ours, in a few finishes (I know I've seen lots of nickel and ORB). I've seen quite a few ORB ones at TJ Maxx as well. Shower curtains - in natural texture bathrooms, I'm partial to PBS textiles. I can't get enough of the natural fibers. (I've even used a pair of their window panels to make an extra long shower curtain in our master bath). I know they're everyday, but I can't help it. Their mineral raynier line is coming to mind. Here's a close-up of the fabric. I have this line of curtains in a different color scheme and the striping is much more subtle, this is greatly magnified....See More5ft by 6ft bathroom help
Comments (42)selfridge74, I wish I could upload too as we are quite pleased with it all. But I pulled out my Bathroom file just now and it is actually called a 36 " not 32" shower. I guess the larger distance from corner to outer curve. It is MAAX Intuition Neo round 36" on this link. http://www.maax.com/en/products/shower-doors/corner/intuition-neoround The round ones are more fully rounded while these have a bit of a straight edge from each wall, then round out at the front only. It's a bit of a space saver. You can get plastic interior walls or just the floor and door and tile it, which we did. To the left of our shower we put our vanity with the back against same wall as shower and left side against the wall. There is a 6" gap between the right side of the vanity and the shower base, so its easy to clean in between them and doesn't look crowded. On the other side of the shower, (right angle, is our toilet on the short 5'5" wall. We got a Foremost Allery which had very good ratings, was one of the few round bowl designs so the bowl doesn't protrude quite as much, but elongated would still be OK. It is a skirted one piece that we quite like. Hard to explain it all but on the opposite wall of the vanity is the door. A regular 28" wide door and it swings into the bathroom. To the right of the door on the same wall that cut in 14" is a lovely little corner wall cabinet with rounded front. It fits in that little nook where the wall changes. It matches our vanity and gives us extra storage. They are made by a Canadian company in Quebec called Luxo Design. Our cabinet is still in their catalogue. It called Winter. The little corner unit that matched came from the Moonlight design, but was the same high gloss white and a perfect match. On the Winter cabinet we removed the sink that came with it as it didn't allow fitting against two walls. We put granite and a bowl sink on it. Here is a link to the company. http://www.luxodesign.ca/index.php?page=produits Sorry verbal description is very hard. It likely makes no sense! The end result was a pretty stylish small bathroom that is completely functional....See Morecat_mom
