Wow! That's gorgeous! I have to ask as to the brand and name of the paint? My mom is vetoing the very dark blue shades, but that is such a pretty color that maybe she'll reconsider.

That is just amazingly wonderful! Please share your source for the cabinet/sink, if you would. And who did the glass fusing on the window--that's brilliant :) (how did you do it?!) And what is the tile on the floor--is it stone? Or a very matte tile? Really love it all. Congratulations.

Let me add to the congrats and the list of questions. First, great job! I love the combo of the wood tones and the various blues.

Can you give some detail on your tub? It was hard to tell whether you preserved the old one or replaced it. If that's a restoration, I would love to know what you did to make it so pretty. I am in the planning stages on a bathroom with a 1920's era tub porcelain tub that has gorgeous lines but needs some love, and I am trying to figure out how to preserve it. Thanks!

Here are some specifics:

Bluekitobsessed: The paint is Devine Tide. In my experience, the saturated Devine paint colors IÂve used act as pleasing background elements rather than as a main event. This project included painting the hallway also and I used BM Buxton Blue. A lovely, sweet color, very pretty. But I find it stands out as a major player. The Devine color feels not as prominent, even though darker. So if your mother is worried about being overwhelmed by color, I donÂt think this paint will be problematic.

Mooie, the clock is mine. It is killing me not to have a clock in the bathroom. I know it is peculiar, but I will probably put one back in that space over the door.

All cabinets and vanity are Plato in cherry. They are custom.
The wall tiles are plain old Dal-tile, arctic white with white grout.
The floor tiles are Crosstile Buenos Aires Mood (porcelain) in the color Polo with quartz color grout. The 12 by 12 tiles are matte and textured, the 6 by 6 tiles are polished.
The pebbles in the two niches are Momiscalco Botany Bay Pebbles in sea green.
The sink is from Ronbow.

The fused-glass piece on the window was made by a local glassmaker. We went over to her shop and designed the piece--picked various colors/shapes/textures under her direction, and she fused the glass and placed it on the window with four tiny dots of silicone. It was fun! The idea to put a piece of stained glass on the window was from a Garden Webber and solved the problem of how to have both light and privacy.

The tub is a Kohler Archer and it is acrylic. I love it and find it an improvement over cast iron, which I was loath to part with (I loved my old tub, though you can see its best days were past). The acrylic is warm but not in a sickly way, and I believe, based on no facts, just my experience, that it holds heat better and longer. It is deeper, though narrower and shorter (or shorter feeling because of the sloped back). That works fine for us. It is not period, but perhaps if people in 1919 had an option, they might not have hauled a cast-iron beast up the steps. Ease of maintenance and whether it holds up over time are issues I canÂt address yet.

Really nice design. And really well executed.

I must ask: where do you guys get those 3d computer renderings? Do you do them yourself or do you designers who provide them? If you do them yourself, are they easy to do? Is there a program? They would have helped me so much - I need a visual picture (but my bath's almost done, so next time...)!

kgwlisa, this project took almost 4 months. I guess that's not too bad but I was anticipating 2--3 weeks (even after my kitchen renovation. I realize I was deluding myself). My contractor called me the other day just to chat. I think he misses me because he was in my house so much I was threatening to charge him rent.

Thanks for the info on the fused glass. I'm definitely storing that away for future use.

Actually, one tiny followup detail question: where the four silicone dots are, can you see the outlines of them through the glass? Or are the edges invisible? Did the installer put the dots specifically behind certain types/colors of glass to obscure them? Thanks again.

Hi flyleft, Sorry for the delay in response, I was away from the Internet for a couple of days.

I just checked, and you can't see the silicone all. Originally, my contractor tried to install the piece. He took the lower part of the window out, placed it on the ground, put six dots of silicone on it (one at each corner and two along the sides), then placed the fused glass piece on top. Well, the silicone dots spread to the size of silver dollars and larger, and when they dried, they were not clear, but opaque and looked really bad--the piece is squares and rectangles and the big dots really stood out. So, luckily, the contractor was able to remove the fused-glass piece and I asked the glassmaker to do it.

She said that people add too much silicone out of fear. Her dots are tiny, one in each corner. She did place them behind double pieces of glass for greater obscurity, but I just checked and you really can't see them. She took my window and piece to her shop and let them lie flat overnight. She said the silicone never completely hardens, so there is always some flex which enables you to get the window back into position without worrying about the fused-glass piece breaking.

Unfortunately, there are still some barely visible rings from the first attempt. You probably wouldn't notice them since they are really faint, but I can see them. A learning experience. But the final dots are tiny.
