Light gray grout turning yellow
Comments (1)What kind of grout is it? Is is cementous grout, epoxy, or urethane, or other specialty type of grout?...See MoreHelp -- white grout turning yellow
Comments (41)Tub and tiles reglazed and SEALED and within 5 months, the grout on 1/4 of the walls, turns yellow every day. I have 9 levels fused in my spine, so I physically cannot toothbrush this problem anymore. I had it professionally reglazed so I would not have to use a toothbrush anymore. I think its the towns awful water. It ruined our toilet to the point we had to replace it. It looked like I NEVER cleaned it ever. The plumber said he has "special talets" to get rid of it, but you have to leave the house for a full day, due to fumes. Funny we get a water bill when we have to lug jugs to the spring, for drinking water in Manchester, CT. The "reglazer" is coming back to re-seal but I do not see how that will be helpful. Grout has fallen off and he plans to just re-seal over it, without regrouting. Guaranteed for 15 years and this is his "fix"? Would a dark grey grout hide the yellow?...See MoreShower's Tile Grout Will Not Turn White!
Comments (9)Looks like your post is from last year. Did you ever find a solution? I sympathize with you. We installed white tile with white grout in our bathrooms (15 years ago)- sealed them with super cheap sealant. They get dirty, but clean very easily with a little bleach and water. In the family room/kitchen we have off white tile with beige grout (different brand than the white we used in the bathrooms because that brand did not have a good match). Since it was in the kitchen, we used a higher end sealant. The grout in those areas- including that which isn't directly in the kitchen and isn't subject to as much staining- is horrible. It discolors and turns grey and looks like it has oil stains in it, and bleach doesn't touch it. The only thing I've found that seems to clean it well is scrubbing bubbles and a grout brush- surprisingly little work if the scrubbing bubbles sit for a few minutes, but then it discolors again in no time. I'm convinced it was the brand of grout and have mostly given up hope on finding a reasonable way to keep it clean....See MoreWhich grout color for white subway tile in shower?
Comments (38)All of the tile I used for my bathrooms and kitchen came from RAI Design in Garden City, NY. Specifically I used their light blue penny round tile in the shared bathroom and for my backsplash in the kitchen I used their tile called “Soho”. The “Soho” tile dimensions are labeled as 2x10 but the actual measurements of the tile are about 2.25x9.75. Not too big or too small and the white color is not too bright so as to compete with my white cabinets. I looked at SO MANY white tiles and this one was the best dimensions and color, and rather inexpensive, too. I highly recommend RAI if you are not too far from NY....See Morelynnfromoro
