House of Cards on Netflix- Anyone watching?
Comments (11)DH and I are watching it. I think we have four or five episodes left. I really like it. I think they've written the president and especially the president's chief of staff as pretty naive characters, but I guess that was necessary to give the Spacey character room to work. Did anybody watch Political Animals last fall? I think it was on FX or maybe TNT. It was only six episodes, I think. I figured it was meant to go further but didn't get picked up. It seemed loosely based on the Clinton's. and the English Ciaran Hinds did one of the best Southern accents I've ever heard on screen. Kevin Spacey's is OK, but tends toward the overly affected....See MoreDo you binge-watch anything??
Comments (91)Binge watching Gilmore Girls right now. I had seen some episodes before because they were reruns on tbs or tnt in the morning before my classes back in college. Apparently I had watched more than I thought because most of the earlier seasons had stuff I remembered watching before. I'm on Season 6 and it seems like Rory makes really horrible judgement calls on guys, as do Lorelai for the most part (except Max). I'm just finishing so I can watch the revival once it's out in November....See MoreDIY Binge Watching Kit
Comments (21)This plan has become a lot easier for me. I've shifted the focus for one of the recipients.. and the other is my sister which makes it very easy. After surveying what we already have for one gift, we opted to go the direction of a "winter hibernation" kind of gift (no kit required lol) We already had an echo dot, a few books, a coffee mug and some beautiful stemless wine glasses etched with a peace sign for my niece. For her (longtime) bf, I had an expansion pack for Cards Against Humanity and a Roku express. Since we have to mail the package, we're going to bundle them all together with coffee, hot chocolate and a few other cozy home things. I think it makes a great package and gift! The other is for a sister and which makes it easier (and I have more freedom to splurge). When we were young and single, we used to load up on blockbuster movies and nasty junk food for a "sleepover" when big snows were coming. I'll build on that with the darn Cheetos which she HAD to have for a snow storm, popcorn, the champagne gummy bears (from another thread), a bottle or two of wine, lounge-y pajamas, a great throw, a box of tissues, etc. It will be perfect. Thank you all for your suggestions!...See MoreMad Men-binge watching
Comments (18)Mad Men is eminently binge-able. A great story with some remarkable performances, and excellent production values. The entire series finished without our watching; then I ordered the first dvd from Netflix and that sat on the coffee table for several weeks. Then we watched a few episodes and were hooked! Same thing with Game of Thrones. Went through the entire ten years and never took a look, despite the brouhaha, until near the end of the last season. I'd always disliked fantasy, medieval stories, clanging swords, etc. I tried an episode, thinking "I'm going to hate this", but no, I loved it, albeit with my fingers over my eyes much of the time! (It's very violent) IMHO nothing can surpass it....See MoreLavender Lass
