Rain, Rain, Go away. I want to go out and play
Comments (4)I took advantage of the great weather today. It is a bit breezy and not as warm as yesterday but I opened up any milk jug that had sprouts so they could "harden up" and I took some of the ones that had just a few seedlings showing and transplanted them into 4 in. nursery pots. I've gathered what I have left to plant out and if temperatures drop tonight, I'll put them in the garage and bring them back out tomorrow. We have had so much rain that so many of them look so spindley. I pinched the blue flax back and that about killed me to do that. If weather is again nice like 60 and above, I'll work on planting some more out tomorrow. Can the wintersown seedlings survive 44-47 degrees?...See MoreRain, rain, go away! What roses do well for you in rain?
Comments (21)Oh, my -- A rose lover tries to get some useful information from other rose folk, only to be hearing about needed rain in California and a mythological definition for rain. Aren't there any other websites where you folks might "bless" others with your non-sequitarian comments? My heart does go out to the Californians along with a financial contribution of support for those in need. And certainly, mythology is quite fascinating. Everything has its place. Perhaps, there is a weather web or a mythology web where you can chat with others who are interested. All that I really wanted to know was about roses that still bloom in rain for future reference. Anyone else out there who might offer some useful info? CJ...See MoreRain, Rain, Go Away
Comments (6)So sorry about the floods in the Mid-west. When I lived back there we had a creek behind our home and on those heavy rain times, I stayed up all night watching the level of the water in the street. No joy. We be wishin' for rain here on the Left Coast. Our "rainy" season which goes by the name Winter is just about over and I think we got about 3" total since last November. Not good for our underground aquifer. Hopefully there is enough water in the reservoirs, as the Siera Mountains have a low snowpack this year. I'll be a stinky Gramma w/o showers, but my hostas will NOT suffer!!!! -Babka...See MoreRain, rain, go away ...
Comments (8)LatinLady, they look healthy and happy. :-) Btw, the summer here has been cold and rainy. We have had 3, THREE, days in total with temperatures around 25C/77F since the end of JUNE. No wonder that my "Vitopod adeniums" outside have been more or less dormant in July and August. But thanks to my grow tents, I have been able to actually "grow" some adeniums. ;-)...See Morehookilau
