Comments (3)Thank you for the quick responses. Pcan, you are right about putting the HTML code in. Coey, I don't understand how it works on your computer and not mine with putting the quote marks at the end. My computer must know that I'm computer illiterate. :)...See MoreSome July 7th and 8th pictures....Long Post, few Pics.
Comments (9)Thanks:) 'Pink Lipstick' huh? That sounds like that might be it!! If this is the one with dark pink flowers it must be. I'll google it after a bit. Maybe your strawberries would be happier growing with a ground cover like mine are doing? They (and my Iris)seem to love it so I'm letting them! It's also the only place I haven't been ripping out that awful Sedum. Sure it's a nice Sedum with pretty flowers and all, but it just shouldn't be planted in a mixed border/garden :O Thanks Karen, I love my Lavender plants and the ease of caring for them. All they need from me is a pruning a couple times a year; every other year or so a pretty hard one in spring to keep from getting woody centers. Next spring will have to whack the 'Vera' back because they are WAY large again and it was only the year before last they got it really good. They (the 4 plants) are 2 plants planted side by side (abt. 2' on center) and over the years they have basically grown into 2 shrubs. In flower (I just went and measured :)) they are 5.5' wide!...See MoreFinally have some time to post! Lots of pics..
Comments (7)Lana, Becky & Carla, FLIRTATIOUS is one of those J&P varieties that they only offered for a few seasons, and then it disappeared. However.... Roses Unlimited now carries it. It's a great garden rose. Mine is about 4½ft tall and around 4ft wide. It's a nice big fat bush. Blooms quite often and has a lot in each flush. Fairly disease reistant. The blooms eventually fade to a light pale yellow or cream. It's really quite interesting. Kate, PEER GYNT has been a really nice rose. I got it from Hortico a few yrs ago, and it blooms consistantly every season. And it's still in a big pot. The shop is going fairly well, thanks. And Pauline, I have NO energy. I work my regular job at Ace, then go to the shop for a few hours; work my days off too. My niece is there 6 days a week. We get lots of people coming in saying they're "sooo glad" we're here; then they say, "well be back!" It's going to be months and months before we see enough profit that I can quit my "real" job! But, that's the way it is. It takes a few yrs to get going. I just hope I can hang in there that long. I'm getting really tired and hope I don't get burnt out. Thanks for the best wishes guys!...See MoreIt's time to post some more old family photographs
Comments (25)This is another recent find: My stepmother, age 3, with her maternal grandmother in Scotland. The back of the photo says "Marion with Wee Granny." I guess this grandmother wasn't very tall. :-) Wee Granny's name was Marion Orr Hughes. Her daughter Mary emigrated to America with her new husband shortly after their wedding. They returned with their children--a boy, 4, and a girl, 3--for a visit several years later, but never went back after that. It must have been so hard for the parents in the old country . . . no email, no Skype, no jet travel. I've often thought the same thing about the parents of American pioneers. To see their grown children and grandchildren venture out in a covered wagon, not knowing what might befall them. Anyway, here's little Marion and big (or not) Marion....See Moretsugajunkie z5 SE WI ♱
