Having a hard time choosing pendant & table lighting - help!
Comments (12)I love all of your pendant choices but the only one that really goes with the chandelier is choice 2- 1 is too mission and 3 is too modern IMO. Is your kitchen open to your family room? My kitchen is similar in size to yours and is open to my family room so I did recessed lights over my island so that it would not be too hanging light heavy on that end of the room. If my kitchen was a separate room then I probably would have done pendants over the island. The lights that I do have in my kitchen are made by Wilmette and I really like there quality. Lighting was definitely one of the hardest choices, I went through so many lights and still have some in my basement that could not be returned. Good luck!...See MoreI have a hard time injecting color, have alot of gray, need advicd
Comments (15)Why do you feel the need to inject color? There is nothing wrong with neutrals, it looks classic and sophisticated. And I would never suggest adding random colors just for the sake of adding color. Only bring in what makes sense. I have a neutral house, it's not monochromatic, but it's neutrals, and the "colors" that i choose to go in it are on the expanded list of "neutrals". Example: I consider animal prints a neutral. Colors I consider neutral: dark olive green, espresso brown, black, gold, creams, grays, My house does not have any of what people call "pops of color" which I'm totally against, that concept makes no sense to me. But my house is far from boring or lacking in "color". It sounds like all you need to do is get out of all grays. That is boring and will not look good....See MoreFirst time home buyer...very daunting task to select cabinet colors
Comments (2)This is not something you ask a bunch of strangers . First colors are never true on monitors and without seeing all the other things that are going into the space I would not hazard a guess. Flooring is the biggest thing so pick that first themn move on to cabinet color. IMO if you are having wood look floor I would not do wood cabinets I would stay with timeless white .BTW this migh be a good time to hire a designer to help you wade through all the decisions you will have to make ....See MoreI am having a hard time finding wood veneer doors modern flat panel do
Comments (14)Priced Trustile and I believe they were around $900 each for the slab, not including shipping. Same with Luxe and Rustica Hardware. We need prehung. With 10 doors to replace this is cost prohibitive with the overall scope of the project and budget. Here is a picture of the materials we are using. Woodmode Modern cabinets, lowers are a textured macassar and uppers a high gloss. Probably use a matte gold hardware. Flooring is 24x48 concrete look tile with a lighter version for backsplash. Will be replacing the existing wood trim (shown) for baseboards and doors. Replacing a loft wall and staircase railing with glass and steel. This color matches the beams we are keeping in the house. The outside of the house is a rough cedar. We are going for a mountain modern look. About the only doors I have found that might work in the budget are by Jen Weld or Masonite and you can get those solid core stainable flush in a Lauan, red oak or birch veneer. Of course you can specify the grain cut or direction. I was leaning towards red oak because I thought it would be easier to stain and match the smooth or rough cedar we use as the trim. Powder room will be a dark laminate cabinet, black matte sink, black granite, same floor and use it up the shower wall. Some sort of black matte tile behind the vanity mirror. I would love a higher grade laminate door....See MoreDream
