Post-harvested garlic bulbs being KILLED!!

I didn't think anything bothered garlic but thrips. Wrong, wrong wrong.

I harvested some beautiful and tasty looking garlic a month ago. I noticed later that some were starting to smell 'bad' so I checked the cloves and saw that there are these nasty looking butt-ugly putrid scummy little (expletives) worms like things that had burrowed into some of the cloves! After killing the #@$#!%%^ heads, I figured they must be some sort of new pestilence from Asia. I went online to look it up, and saw that there was an article on some site about a new garlic pest that has arrived (whee!) in Pennsylvania. Of course I couldn't READ the $#@#$@#@ article because you have to pay their 'subscription' rate, which I refuse to do for one stinking article. And as usual, the government invasive species listings are a JOKE too.

So has anyone else heard about the latest insect plague to hit the East Coast? I'm also cross posting this on PA gardening, just so I maybe can find out more about the latest threat to my sanity and garden veggies.
