Christmas gift from ole joyful
Comments (6)greg, When Spike ran things here, he took a dim view of copying identical items from one forum to another. Possibly we can get away with it, these days. But I guess I sort of got habits entrenched at an earlier time. Somewhat similar to the (probably mythical) sign by a Prairie dirt road, which gets rather heavily rutted after a rain, "Pick your rut carefully - you'll be in it for the next ten miles!". Make a list of all the friends, relatives, acquaintances you've known thru life, their phone, email, etc. Plus their training, interests, work, skills and various other issues related to them. When you need something, consult one of them who knows about that situation: most folks like to talk about things that they know about (and some of us like to talk about most anything). Some of them may be able to help you find the product or service that you need at a better price, that'll give you better service, e.g. mechanics who know which engines in which cars have given trouble, etc. Add to the database as more information comes along. It should save you hundreds, possibly thousands, during your lifetime. I'd plsanned to go to the Kitchen Table and add another message, which would bring the post to the top of page one again (moves about 2 pages per day) but haven't done it yet. Hope that you have a really fine New Year. ole joyful P.S. On the other hand ... you could go back to look for a former year's post, on a slow-moving forum, as the message might still be there. I posted it on different forms in successive years. o j...See MoreMemo to smokers in Ontario from ole joyful
Comments (2)... maybe ... win a car! For those of you who don't have any such offer operating in your area ... how about getting some of your agencies to work together to develop a simiar program in your area? It'd sure save a lot of health care costs! ole joyful...See Moreole joyful's recent adventure
Comments (17)Greetings, everyone. I'd had no indication prior to that trip that something was wrong with the rad. I had a '90 Dodge "Colt" (also standard tranny) from about '97 to about '04 or '05. I used it to travel the 12 miles or so to Uncle's farm nearly daily after his death, to make it look lived in, until the farm was sold, and, as I was usually travelling at midnight or 2 a.m or so, when there was little traffic, found that I could coast over 16 of the 20 km. trip ... and if anyone had told me that they could coast 80% of the time, I'd have thought them to be lying. Didn't have any clutch or transmission troubles with it. When the mechanic said that, at about 200K miles, it was risky to put it on the road, donated it to a charitable agency for a charitable receipt. When I initiated a discussion here about coasting some time ago, some said that such is illegal in their state. I've asked several police people and have been told that it's my responsibility to be in charge of my vehicle, and to drive in a safe manner. I don't usually do it if someone is following me rather closely, as it is not fair to interfere with his/her progress. _____________________________ The lady in question called me the next evening, to ask whether I'd got home O.K., and I told her that I had, and of the issues that I'd had to deal with ... and asked her how she knew that I'd had any problems. She said that she hadn't seen me at the commital, or afterward at the luncheon, and that she had been pretty sure that I'd have been there, so thought that something probably went wrong. And, yes ... I've seen her again ... why not? Last evening, as a matter of fact ... for a short visit before coming to the library ... but hadn't time to make this post, then. Any other questions/comments/(advisories)? ole joyful...See Moreole joyful's news (hope not rehashed)
Comments (37)Thanks for your good wishes and happy thoughts, everyone. I'm to have another checkup in 6 mos.; blood test two weeks prior. The serious part of the cold was pretty well gone by Tuesday and Wednesday - the slight ongoing cough was to clear mucus (and I guess the thought may have triggered the action, as I just coughed again). The nose-run was to clear the thick stuff that signals imminent departure. People are talking of 24-hour flu, but I don't call mine flu, as no throwing up, achey joints, headaches, etc. 'Twas warm, last week, then snow, and rain, which cleared most of it, and it's been chilly for a few days, to continue over the weekend, then warm up a bit. I goofed a couple of weeks ago - I'd agreed to visit a number of neighbours to encourage them to support the research and support programs of the Heart & Stroke Foundation and had some more visits to do, which are more pleasant in warm weather ... but didn't, so may have to do them in chillier times. Thereto hangs a tale/(tail?) ... but it's a bit long and involved to tell here. Good wishes for a great weekend ... and prep time for Easter, if that's important in your way of life. ole joyful...See MorePKponder TX Z7B
