I'm not sure I understand. I have several sleeveless tanks and blouses but none of them show my bra anywhere.

I wont buy spaghetti strap shirts because my bra would show with those. How wide are your straps?

I usually have to try on a lot to find ones where the armholes do not gape or show with movement. As for the straps, I don't have a problem with those moving out of place. Also, try pulling the BACK of the tank down after you have it on- sometimes that adjustment makes a huge difference in fit for me!

Racer-back bra.

you can buy a little deal that goes in the middle of your back and both straps from either side connect to it making it much like a racer back bra. Looks like a little round circle and keeps the straps pulled into the center so they don't show.

Straps on the tanks I bought are twice as wide as my bra straps, not wide, not narrow. I thought it would work and wore them for a couple days off and on so couldn't really take them back. Besides I do wear them indoors. I'm a size triple D, if I were smaller it may not be so much of a problem. Like Renee, I should try them on before I buy but I don't always.

Racer-back bra? Hmmm. Well I have a hard time finding good minimizers so probably a racer back may be a challenge. Good idea tho! A strapless would be ideal if it would stay up on me. ha.

I wear large size minimizer bras and have found Soma https://www.soma.com/store/category/bras/cat40089 to be a good source. Maybe you'd find something. Also I order from Talbots on line for plus tank tops that fit me nicely (I'm in the women petites). And then, when these two options just don't work out the way I want, I have purchased a couple of brightly colored bras from Soma, hot pink and electric blue, and I wear them and just let those straps show :)

You just have to keep trying and find what works for you. I recently tried on Vera Wang tanks at Kohls. Horrible. Arm holes were very large.

I shop at Loft and Ann Taylor for most of my clothing. They have sales all the time and they give me alerts for the sales. Because I am a petite size, I get most of my things online as the stores have a minimal selection.

The bra strap showing thing has been around for over decade. It doesn't bother me to see it on other women, but I also don't feel comfortable with the look at all on myself. Some years back I bought those plastic bra strap holders that turn regular bras into racing type bras, but found them so difficult to put on, I gave up after 3 wearings.

I have several tanks/sleeveless tops and no part of my bra ever shows. Are you trying on tops with a bra you normally wear before buying them? As others have mentioned, there is quite a variation when it comes to shoulder width, and armhole depth - the only way to know is by trying the tops on before you buy. Also, if your bras have wide straps, you might want to buy some bras with narrower straps to wear with sleeveless clothing.

I don't have a problem with bra straps showing ever, I just don't wear a bra. The girls are just not big enough to put in a bra. I sure do wish I had something to put in one.

I wear the fitted tanks from Target around the house and to walk the dog. They don't show bra straps too badly.

If I want something nicer, I wear a fitted tee or sleeveless blouse, which usually has 2-3" shoulder seams. I don't care for loose fitting tops so the armhole is usually not an issue.

I only wear tanks and sleeveless shirts when I'm not leaving the house (don't want to show off my flabby old lady upper arms) so I don't care if my bra shows.

It just has to do with the fit of the top on you I suppose. I'm also a DDD(34) and don't have that issue with straps or side bra/boob showing. If you are having those issues, the top isn't a good fit. In the past, I've bought too many tops that I had to fiddle with (constantly yanking the back down, adjusting the neckline, etc), so now when I try them on, I know it's right when I don't have to fiddle it in the dressing room once it's on.

I usually don't mind seeing someone's strap showing as long as it's very little peek a boo of the strap and the bra strap isn't a huge color contrast from the sleeveless top. I don't like seeing the entire strap (ie: a regular strapped bra with a racer back top). It's just not right.

I wouldn't buy/wear a tank top that has "straps twice as wide as my bra strap," like you said above. My bra strap is maybe 1 inch wide - a 2 inch wide tank top strap is way too narrow for me. I'm too modest.

I guess this is probably a bigger problem for you than me since I'm only a single D. :)

Edited to add: do you only wear white bras? If you wear a flesh colored one, a showing strap isn't so obvious.

I have several nicer sleeveless tops and wide neck tops from White House Black Market. They all have little clasps that go around my bra strap to hold the strap in the right position. Genius!

I've gotten to the point in my life that I don't care if my bra straps show. I just don't wear spaghetti strap tops, but I'll wear tank tops with 1" wide straps and if my bra strap sticks out and people don't like, they don't have to look.

I bought a bunch of fitted t shirts from the Gap. They are cheap, the fabric is very thin although 100% cotton, and the sleeves very short.

The cheapness has turned into a plus, they are lightweight and much cooler than my quality heavyweight tees, and the shortness of the sleeves helps me stay cool also but circumvents the whole bra strap problem.

Just wanted revisit this thread to say that the new sleeveless blouse I bought and was disappointed in because straps showed and the arm holes were too big - I washed it and forgot to take it out of the dryer early. Now it fits great and no peek-a-boo straps or bra under the arms! ha

I have started shortening the strap part where it joins on the Shoulder, up to two inches. Better coverage that way, as they were just sitting too low on me. And it is funny that the neckline itself does not look any higher, even though I would think it would!

In other cases I have added a few stitches to the underarm area to close the hole a bit when it showed too much.

If I am really feeling fancy, I sew a narrow dart in the middle of the back neckline as I seem to be narrow there and often have a gape. Things just fit so much better after that small adjustment.

Or I be lazy and just let it all show LOLOLOL!

I do not wear sleeveless anything without some type of blouse over it. Too fat of arms and hate showing cleavage.

Schoolhouse, I was going to suggest that something doesn't fit properly, the tops or the bra. Looks like I was right at least in one instance! ;-)

There was a discussion about clothing alteration some time ago. You might be the perfect candidate for some minor nipping and tucking on certain items of clothing, including undergarments.

In the past couple of years, my body has redistributed itself, changed its shape without any weight loss. I've had several articles of clothing altered and am so happy with how they look and feel on me.

What's the deal with tops anymore? They seem to have a respectably modest neckline, but seem far too low for me. Normal tops show far too much cleavage as I age.
