What browser are you using ?

Remember this too,

Adobe Flash Player is integrated with Microsoft Edge in Windows 10, and is updated via Windows Update.

The flash player installed on your machine should be in the uninstall list.

Right click the start button, then click Programs & features. Find flash in the list and uninstall it.

If you have Problems---> then ---> Google--> "Uninstall flash win 10"

I use Firefox most often. Also happens with Chrome. which I use only now and then.

I don't understand why MS installed a 32-bit version on a 64-bit machine.

Stats say this:

Processor Intel i3 @ 2.10Ghz

Installed RAM 6 GB

System Type 64-bit

When it comes to the uninstall list, that's my problem. Where is it in Win 10?

I thought if I uninstalled it, then the correct version would install, or I could install it.

I believe it's because you're running 32-bit Firefox. (32-bit apps will run on 64-bit machines).

I don't use Chrome but would think it's the same deal with it.

Flash is a browser plugin so it follows along with the "bit-ness" of the browser. 32-bit Flash on a 64-bit Win OS is perfectly logical when running a 32-bit browser.

There is a 64-bit version of Firefox but one has to seek it out specifically. Last I knew (which was months ago), 64-bit Firefox had 64-bit Flash blocked from running for some security reason or other.

Same with Java. There are both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Java. 32-bit installs even on 64-bit Win unless one specifically downloads/installs the 64-bit version.

That explains a few things I didn't know.

So, what do I gain if I install the 64-bit versions? I use email, images, internet, and word processing. uses.

No games, extremely few movies. Only occasional streaming -- when my son is conducting a concert at his college.

Nothing substantial.

64-bit software runs faster ... but the difference is measured in micro- and nanoseconds so isn't of much consequence except in VERY high-performance environments. The typical user browsing email or web sites takes MUCH more time clicking on links and reading text and waiting for data to come in over the network connection than the difference a 64-bit browser can garner.

32-bit software can't make use of more than 4GB of RAM (which includes 32-bit Windows OS) no matter how much is installed in the computer.

64-bit OS and software can utilize MUCH more system RAM ... but if a given computer has only 4 GB then that's all it has anyway. However, many 64-bit systems nowadays may have (should have to get any benefit from a 64-bit OS) 8 GB of RAM or more.

I knew you folks would have the info I need.

Okay, let's go back to my original challenge - how to stop the freezes due to the flash player.
