Comments (3)Ooooh, I love ixia! I planted some, but in the wrong spot so of course they never came back (sigh) after a big shrub overshadowed them. Yours are so beautiful....See Morenewly planted irises, rose blooms and butterflies
Comments (6)Great pics of the butterfly and hummingbird! Love the color of your mystery rose! I'll have to see if there is a hardy rose in that apricot color as I'd love one like that. Of course I like the pink roses also - all the new ones I bot are various shades of pink as I just couldn't resist them. What color irises did you get? You will be surprised at how fast they grow and multiply. I love irises! TFS...See Moremy irises are really going strong
Comments (4)Thanks for the heads up on those iris gal, that is the great thing about being able to post pictures. I like to "know" my iris.I remember now wondering about Bubbling over last year, I was definitely expecting some "bubbling" going on that isn't here. It isn't somewhere else in the yard. Oh well. I just looked it up & it definitely isn't right, is it? I have several black ones, at least this one is ruffled so shouldn't be hard to ID. I should have looked this one up, I feel like Witches Sabbath should be in this bed. I'll go through my list & see if any match. I'm anxious for WS to bloom now, I looked it up & I love that gold beard on a black flower. I hope it is as black as this one, one site it looks just purple. Thanks for the hint about branching! That is a good one. Classic Look is a rather special plicata, just extra crisp. Thanks for the compliments!...See MoreDo irises go well with tulips?
Comments (9)If memory serves, Iris (tall bearded) fills in a gap between the end of Spring bulbs and the start of summer perennial blooms. I believe that Iris and peonies often bloom together and are a great combination. If you are planting your tulips as an annual, then plant at the front and pull when finished blooming. If you are using a variety that perennializes well, you might consider using other perennials that emerge later in front to help hide the dying foliage. I'm not certain I would suggest Iris for this role, but it might work fine....See MoreAlana8aSC
