South Fla contractor that does IKEA cabs?
Comments (6)Wow, is that a Fridigaire Flair? Are you going to keep that? I don't have a suggestion for you, but I do have a caveat: Ikea is in the process of discontinuing its current Faktum/Akurum kitchen line, to be replaced by a whole new system called Metod/Sektion early next year. I would think very hard about buying cabinets now, given that it may be hard to get any extra needed bits by then. In other places Ikea has said that they would continue to stock parts for the older system for two years, but I don't know that I'd put much faith in being able to get a particular part later on. So if you were planning to do the kitchen now, I'd say go ahead, but with that much of a time gap, I don't know....See More2 contractors have begged me not to use IKEA cabs
Comments (18)I'm using IKEA cab's in my kitchen & am having Traemond install them. I had paid $50 to have the designer come to my house to measure, since I didn't trust myself. She wasn't the most personable person & her measurements on one wall looked to be off by 3". I thought that could make a difference, so I went back to IKEA & expressed my concern. They sent out one of the installers. I was very impressed w/ the guy that came out to remeasure. He was very professional & all he does is install IKEA cabinets. I'm going to request him to do my installation. The cabinets have a 25 year warranty on them, so that should tell you something. Plus, I actually had a custom cabinet maker out last week to discuss a custom hood for my range. I told him I was doing IKEA cabinets & he said they were great. He mentioned how the hardware is really good. Not the handles & pulls, but the hinges & such. Said they were very strong. Also, I've been to a couple of renovation home tours in my city & some very reputable contractors had IKEA cabinets in the houses they were showing & they looked very good. Sarah Richardson, great Canadian designer uses them in some of the houses she has redone on her show. Sometimes she has them custom painted, which is what I'm doing. I'm not worried in the least bit. And, you can't beat the price! Use the IKEA installers & just let them know you want to make sure they're installed by their best installer! Good luck. I think you'll be very happy you did this....See MoreIkea contractor in San Francisco Bay Area?
Comments (6)lbonnie, we bought a variety of IKEA pieces at the Emeryville store and used their delivery/assembly service (I know that won't work for the contractor part, but for the furniture part, it worked perfectly). When a piece that was delivered was not "right" - they went and got the right piece and came back. We had them do a bed, 4 sets of Pax closets, I think a nightstand (and maybe a couple of dressers - I don't remember)....See MoreAny reasonable contractors who install IKEA in NYC?
Comments (8)Good luck! Finding a good contractor is 10 times more challenging than coming up with a plan (and 10 times more important, too...) You probably already thought of this but it might be worth seeing if anyone in your building has any recommendations, too. Someone who knows about your building's unique features is probably worth his weight in gold....See MoreKim
