Curry Leaf Plant in the San Francisco Bay area?
Comments (23)Thanks to everyone on this list for the info. I've been looking for a year, including two failed attempts at an online plant order and online seeds. Yesterday, I purchased one from this nice lady out by Tracy (Mountain House, to be exact). She has a listing on Craigslist at this URL: https://stockton.craigslist.org/grd/d/curry-plants/7287455404.html. Huge number of plants - 400+? Many different sizes, including up to 6ft tall. All looked very healthy. And she has been doing this mostly by word of mouth, so I sense it will all work out positively. BTW, I called Regan's and probably about 30 other nurseries, including all of them on the Suncrest Nurseries list - nada...So was really grateful to find this craigslist listing. Comments (2)We only manufacture and install automatic safety pool covers. However, there is a company in the Easy Bay that will install a manual cover. Their name is Cover Pro, and you can reach them at 925.294.8585 If you want something automated, please call us at 800.262.4044...See MoreMy San Francisco bay area plums in bloom. Ataulfo and Manila.
Comments (8)Manila is the taller one. About 11 years old. The Ataulfo is fronting it. It was started from seed over five years ago, pushing six. It had a LONG period of almost no growth adapting from pot to dirt. It had very compact flushes and I even came close to digging it up. Then,it took and has been fast for local conditions of mild summers, cool summer nights (60f)....See MoreSome david austins in san francisco south bay area
Comments (8)Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Sheila and erasmus: Yes, that's cosmos. But, as I eventually learned, it gets too big and was taking over the pot and I had to pull it out so that the roses would show. Looks like there are smaller dwarf varieties too if I want to do it again. flowersaremusic: I am already obsessed with roses and gardening in general.. ask my wife :) And yes, jude smells delicious. I love roses that are very fragrant. Jude (fruity scent) and gertrude (classic rose scent) were the most fragrant to me. Next up were Abraham darby (fruity) and Scepter (anise?). Bathsheba was mild to me. And I didn't detect much fragrance in Wedgwood and Spirit of freedom. Also love the cup-shaped blooms, hence the obsession with Austins. I also have a tendency for climbers to drape all the walls, fences.. but I am running out of garden space, and most importantly, sunlight. On the topic of sunlight, all these pics are from spring. But I think the summers here get too hot (several days of 100s this year) for the Austins and the colors fade quite a bit. So morning sun and afternoon shade is a really important for Austins. One of the walls that gets only hot afternoon sun, I planted a climber rose last year -- before I discovered the world of Austin roses. Now I am glad its not Austin but a $10 bareroot I bought from big box store :D It's climbing america, and I think its very capable of handling the hot afternoon sun. Kristine: Yes, the bathsheba is a climber per DA website (several canes 6+ feet in the first season for me)....See Moresjhockeyfan325
