Meyer lemon help

I have a little Meyer lemon tree that is very chlorotic. This will be it's 3d summer. It was tiny when I bought it, in a pot that looked to be about the size of a quart milk carton. I planted it late spring, so watered it a lot (deep, slow trickle from the hose) the first summer. Since then, about every 2 weeks in the winter, once a week now. Always slow trickle for several hours. The first year i though the chlorosis was due to lots of water, but I figured I had to do that to get it to survive the summer and give it a chance to grow roots. I started feeding it last summer since it was still chlorotic, following directions on the citrus food. But it doesn't seem to make any difference, it just gets yellower and yellower. It has 3 nice little lemons on it, which I hope hang on till they ripen, but the tree looks so sad, I don't know. I hope someone can tell me what my little tree needs-it's in unimproved desert soil, surrounded by rock, full sun all day.
