Gee.....it's been so long since I had any mangoes that would be considered "extra" that I forget what I do with them. No, seriously, I have had bumper crops over the years. I have lots of people (family and friends) to feed; I have a small, honor system fruit stand in front of my house; there are many local customers that come by and buy in quantity and I do lots of dehydration of the extra fruit to last for when there are no mangoes. I was intending to start doing some shipping last season to folks on the Forum, but Mother Nature saw to it that that didn't happen. I would consider sending out fruits this year again, if there are any to send.....but I have come to realize that it is a pretty big pain in the butt to have to do all that packing and shipping.....just based on my limited shipping of fruit this past year. I do still invite anyone in the area to stop by to sample mangoes or lychees available and to buy what they wish based on what is available. I had started a list last year of those interested in perhaps getting mangoes shipped. I still have the list somewhere and I'll be happy to add anyone interested to that list in case I do have fruit available and the time for shipping it. BTW, mangoes usually begin ripening in early May......Rosigold, possibly in March or April....but the bulk of the crop really doesn't start until end of May/ early June and runs through end of August or early Spetember. There are fruits available into October but you have to fight the damned critters for the late season mangoes as they really focus on the few trees that still have fruit on them. Harry

hey mangochien, mon frances est tres faible....please respond in ingles my french sucks. Mimosa had bigger trees than my Glenn! They have a VP and a Lancetilla on 20g that's 10 feet. I have seven mango trees but I think I'm going to chop my manila down to 5 feet and graft my favorite mango on it. I can't guarantee you a tour if you join but I'm sure it gets you a set closer. The first question the grower ask when I call him for a tour, are you a member?. Regarding Carrie mango I have no idea, I haven't tried the fruit, you need to ask Adrian he has two Carries and he is from Socal. Mangodog, just email and we can talk about the Anaheim Hills grove. The other crops are pretty boring like number one in beets, we have a sugar industry here. 6th in peaches I guess my point any place you live is what you make it. I have an orange tree, a black peppercorn plant, cacti, and fig trees. I can grow anything I want. I have a limited season, but the plants don't know that. Peppers and tomatoes are tropical plants yet grown everywhere. Both originating from South America. I hate our winters, but we don't have poisonous spiders or snakes, no hurricanes, or earthquakes, just an occasional tornado. Cost of living is really decent here too. I own waterfront property but am middle class, hard to do in CA or FL. Everyplace has it good points and bad, it is what you make of it. I have often thought of moving but many of the things mentioned changed my mind. I'm excited this week I have all kinds of new plants coming. Spring is at last here, and after the hard winter, the roses never smelled sweeter! I have Nadia the cherry-plum hybrid tree coming. It's like a huge cherry! Developed in Australia. You couldn't grow that in FL, not enough chill hours. Two elderberries new cultivars from the Netherlands that are pruned like raspberries, making management and harvest rather simple. Two new currants, a pink, and a red one. Again cannot be grown in CA or FL due to these cultivars not taking the heat. I picked up three more blackberry plants, and a tropical fruit tree, that produces the sherbert berry. I will have to overwinter inside. This cultivar is from India. I added two plum trees Satsuma, and a weeping Santa Rosa plum. Both are very good Japanese plums. My raspberry crop is going to be huge this year, as is my strawberry and blackberry crops. I have garlic, and onions planted out already and have 15 tomatoes, and 15 pepper plants ready to be planted out. My Spice Zee nectaplum has swollen blossoms, about ready to bloom, As does my pluot tree, and Indian Free and pf-Lucky 13 peach trees. Also my Arctic Glo nectarine is loaded with fruit buds. The blueberries are going to produce a large crop, as our my currants too. Getting ready to plant beans, cucumbers, melons and watermelons. I'm growing orange, yellow and red watermelons this year. The above discussion about when, or when not to spray copper fungicide on a healthy mango tree has intrigued me and caused me to re-study my strategy. After that dismal ordeal 5 years ago when my 10 ft tall Nam Doc Mai got this fungus, - I had no idea what to do. So after 2 yrs of constant fungus, I cut that tree down ( was getting too big for it's location anyway ) and replanted a Pickering. From my investigating then it was apparent that there are differing opinions, some say start in Dec and continue every 2 weeks till harvest, others say only spray once or twice early on. After a brief investigation I opted for 2 sprays early in yr, 2 + weeks apart & never looked back. Until now. Just came across a University of Florida site about the care of mango trees. Very informative, especially about this particular subject. UF says if you are spraying copper fungicide, spray only in the following months. Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb, but only if you feel it's necessary,..and that's it ! That's when the pannicles are new and the blossoms not yet open ! Common sense advise for the backyard grower, just what I was looking for ! Now I am a rabid Florida Gator fan, if they said the sun really rises in the west and sets in the east, I'd believe them ! ( smile ) So I have decided to change my mango spraying habits starting next year. One spray max in late January and none if there's no evidence it's necessary.
