HELP! What do I do with theses babies???
Comments (9)I agree - I think I would plant the monarda now (or at least some of it) and overwinter the lavender and any remaining monarda in the jugs. Or maybe you can replant into a bigger container. But I wouldn't leave it outside. Let it go dormant and then bring into an unheated garage where it can remain dormant until spring. You might have to water once or twice during the winter (probably only once if you water when you bring it in - and watch the watering with the lavender). I've had winter-sown perennials spend several winters in the same jug in my garage! In particular some columbines and rudbeckias that I just never got around to planting. Just threw the jug bottom with the plants in the garage with the rest of my potted perennials and they made it through winter. Dee...See MoreBuilding a new nest on top of babies? What to do?
Comments (4)What kind of nesting material? I would take out the new nesting material and make sure the nestlings are ok and just observe and make sure the nestlings are being fed. Do you have any idea on how old the nestlings are? Are they feathered yet? Good luck! Donna...See MoreWhat do I do with baby box turtles?
Comments (1)Hm, build a little ramp on the inside for them to get out? Tear up some of the edging? Keep eye on them and transport one by one to the woods?...See MoreI know what I need to do, I just can't bring myself to say goodbye.

I knew our almost 13 year old German Shorthair Pointer was at the end of his life, and I was thinking I'd wait until after Christmas, but I realized that I needed to do it the right thing for him even though it was hard for me. We put him down on Dec. 17. :( I probably waited a bit too long, and I didn't realize how much stress I'd been under thinking about whether or not it was the right time until he was gone. There was almost a sense of relief. Missing him wasn't as difficult as wondering and worrying about whether or not I was doing the right thing. We all still miss him terribly, though. When the time comes, I highly recommend getting a vet to come to your house. It was so peaceful and less stressful than taking him to the office....See More- 10 years ago
