Kitchen Craft Warning! Terrible Finish & Not Honoring Warranty
Comments (76)I have been busy on other projects.. but I am ready to ramp up complaint to Kitchen Craft - so I'm glad you wrote. I think you should let them send someone out to 'fix' and see if you can chat with them about finish and potential problems. I was recently told by a painter that the peeling on my cabinets cannot be repainted because it cannot be sanded! so there is not even a way to repair the cabinets. I would like to hear back about what their 'fixer' has to say. I am planning to write the company again and give them a chance to respond positively. If anyone else is still having problems please post....See MoreCorner Cabinet Options and Garbage Can Size ?
Comments (6)We use our super susan for small appliances, which works great. My other corner is closed off completely, with drawers on both sides. I thought long and hard about that decision, and hated the idea of "wasting" space, but ultimately it is effective use of space that matters most. The drawers on each side of my corner get used every day; I developed plenty of space in pther parts of the kitchen for things that are not used as often. The best way to maximize storage space in YOUR kitchen is to map out what you have, and how much space your things need. Drawers are the most efficient use of base cabinets. The space above the fridge is valuable too - that cabinet should be as deep as the fridge. Lots of people put vertical dividers there, for cookie sheets, trays, cake pans. I had my cabinet maker install pull-outs above the fridge, which is perfect for lightweight, bulky items. Oh, and build your cabinets all the way to the ceiling, with extra shelves in the uppers. That was noe of my biggest space gains....See MoreSuggestions on a 12" cabinet
Comments (43)If you change your cabinet to two twelves, one door will now open toward your hood and you'll need a hinge restrictor so the door stops at 90 degrees. Or you can allow for a few inches of space between the upper cabs and hood. Mine are 2 1/2" away from my chimney hood. Aesthetically it gives the hood a little breathing room. Look at abbabug's photo. I would actually ditch the chimney hood because I see traditional windows and moldings in an older home in your photos. Google pro-style and canopy hoods and you'll see they are a far cry from your old hood. Have you read the thousands of threads here about why drawers are preferred over door cabinets? What will you put in the double drawer base cab to the left of the stove? Is it for pots and pans? You can use a 3-drawer base for pots and pans and use the top drawer for spices. Large pots could go to the right of the sink in a 3-drawer. Pasta and soup pots need water, so storing them there makes sense. You can use heavy-duty drawer glides for that 39" cabinet. However, I would try to shrink the 39" cabinet and add it to the sink base so you can get a larger sink. Since that's going to be your "pretty" wall, I would want the sink base to be the largest cabinet in that run--it is the focal point. Of course you'll need to play around with your uppers, but they don't need to match the base cabs exactly. Maybe the trash cab could go to the right of the sink. The sink wall looks unbalanced right now. You might start a new thread asking for layout help. Link to this one so they know what's already been discussed....See MoreWaypoint Cabinets vs Ikea
Comments (44)Ashley, I don't know, we can only speak from our experience and the way the companies current quality and service. We got Painted 410F Full Plywood. As for full plywood construction, this was also a lie. The backs are made from fiberboard, and not even MDF, some kind of strand board. The shelfs are also made from a low-quality strand board and many of ours have defects. We also went through the supplier / showroom as that is the only way to purchase waypoint products with a warranty (Which is worthless in our case). We are going on 16 months without a kitchen now as the cabinets are still not fully installed / missing parts. Some of the drawers had only 1 soft close shock on one side, some other had none for 2 drawers and 1 drawer that has them. Total lack of quality control. That is what we get for buying an American made brand. As many doors show seams or poor paint coverage as doors that are correctly made. Installers cracked 3 or 4 of the cabinets or maybe it was shipping and so far, we do not have replacements after over a year. We cannot complete our kitchen and may be forced to sell our house at a huge financial loss as I'm tired of playing camping with plastic tables setup in the living room for a microwave and air fryer oven we purchased months in as it appears we may never have our problem resolved by waypoint. These shady companies are the kind of installers / retailers Waypoint associates themselves with. We are currently shopping for lawyers that might be able to help, us, but it appears it would be as expensive to sue them as it would be to take the $28000 loss on the cabinets. At this point I would rather the lawyer get paid than the waypoint retailer though. I cannot even pay for / order any of the missing or damaged parts directly from waypoint as you must go through the installer who is not supporting us since he already has our money. So even after they refuse warranty, I cannot order replacement parts. This basically means that we need to tear out all the cabinets and start over with another brand. American Woodmark is the parent company, and I will never purchase American Woodmark, Shenandoah, PCS, Timberlake, Waypoint, Allen+Roth, or Hampton bay products again. Chinese Cabinets have better QC than Waypoint and are much much cheaper. I should have just bought Ikea cabinets and installed them myself. At least I would have a working kitchen by now. Stay away from Waypiont Cabinets and any retailer associated with this brand....See Morecorky
