Would you paint this fireplace brick (again...)
Comments (33)Thanks again guys! I guess if it wasn't permanent, I'd totally go for it but since I'm still unsure, it's better to leave it until I'm 100% Justgotabme- so funny- I too am in love with trees...I picked my house largely because of the trees and I really have (unintentionally) some form of tree decor in each room!!!! Well, here is a few more rooms since you asked and I totally welcome any advice and input on how to improve!!! Cat scratching post is the centerpiece of the room!!! Leaf pattern on the chair! I want a taller arching lamp... Dining room....crud on the floor and picture not done yet....the pillow on the chair has trees on it! How can I forget the white mirror that 99% of people on GW told me to ditch but I just can't! Rest of the den- pictures above sofa are too small...I know it. Tree design on the trays! Kitchen table with tree! Fancy temporary paper shades! Ooo-lala! Kind of a tree? LOL Tree "one of kind" prints that I can find all over the place...At least I didn't pay too much for them... An old pic of the kitchen with the wrong sized panel on the hood before it was corrected...don't say anything bad about this room please LOL since I don't have money to fix it and it came out too girly. Oh well... I could go on with leaves and trees...so funny...hopefully not too much of a good thing. Oh well!...See MoreWhat color of appliances would you pair with a brick red stove/range
Comments (21)Wow, lots of great feedback! Cookcarpenter, yes I am going with the Bluestar RNB in brick red. I agree with all of you who said that white does not necessarily fit into a higher end kitchen, I am just trying to find another solution other than SS. I am not sure if I like the idea of a black refrigerator and dishwasher, I would prefer SS over black. Paneled might be okay. Cpartist, great pictures! Thank you for posting them. Hehehe, maybe that is what I need to start drinking to get through this house project. ;-) Lots to think about. Thank you everyone!...See MoreIs My Brick Ugly - Would You Paint It?
Comments (48)Very nice! Glad you did not paint the brick. I like your dark red front door colour, but it would look even better if it was repeated somewhere. This would also tie in with touches of dark red in your gray brick. For example, add a dark red pillow cover over your white pillows. The next time you choose plant materials, consider adding plants with dark red flowers or, maybe even better, a dark red leaf colour. Maybe coral bells (heuchera) do well in your climate - there are many with red or mahogany red leaves. Red leaf Japanese maples come in various sizes. For annuals, fibrous begonias with dark burgundy leaves. Winter interest with red-stemmed dwarf red osier dogwood....See MoreMy awkward beach house living room
Comments (101)>> Side note << Today on the news a professor from Bucknell spoke about a study on home decorating, etc. Found that homeowners are very much influenced by what media says sells homes and what decorating shows on TV advise. As a result, people lose their own sense of style, use of color and design that pleases them. They end up living in houses that they don't enjoy, but will appeal to the masses. Here we all offer suggestions but also show great appreciation from other's style choices and in doing so find new ways to decorate. In the end, they're saying what makes you happy is what's important : )...See Moreljf817
