Need help with removing Windows 10

I have Windows 7 Home Edition and I can not get my updates because Windows 10 is ready to download on it and I don't want windows 10! I have a driver update I run too and it can't do what is to do because of this windows 10 download. I have went and deleted KB305583 but when I got to updates there is is again and if I check to down load different ones it is still ready to download windows 10!! So please tell me how to get that windows 10 completely off my computer. Thank you .

I just don't believe in free lunches. Why would Microsoft give up millions of dollars in sales? Every other new operating system was either purchased as an add on or on a new computer within a few years of it being introduced, and Microsoft made a fortune every time...now it's free and they aren't just "offering" it, they are blasting us with relentless pop ups and offers...I'm fine with what I have now...just not jumping on this "free" bandwagon...I just don't like the smell of it.

Well bottom line is that we did not pay 100% and the contractor as well his supplier are in agreement that the company S&R window did shotty work at best and are going to take the windows back once our contractor removes them. We ordered new windows from our typical supplier and they are scheduled to be installed next week. Sad thing though is that this forum used to be a buzz with all sorts of help and advice. From my reading of it I see a lot of the tough questions and issues have gone unanswered. Sad to see that this forum is not as relevant as it used to be.

We are currently building, and we did 6'8" doors on our lower level, which has 10' ceilings. The exterior doors have transoms, which are at a consistent header height with all the windows. We toured MANY homes when we were researching plans and preparing to build. I just couldn't get used to 8' doors. They just didn't look right to me. To each their own I guess!

We have a window like this in a bedroom. We’ve replaced the whole window bottom and half moon once because the seal broke on the half moon due to the hot sun shining on the half moon and rotting the window frame. Then we just replaced the half moon part with new glass and that room gets unbearably hot or cold now. We can’t pick up our house and turn it. lol I’m not sure what to do to fix this. The builder should have never put that half moon window on the house. Only a regular two panel window. I wish there was an easy fix to just get rid of the half moon and still make the front of our house look nice.

@joseph_corlett lol, I've been undoing the messes of the previous 100 years of owners. All walls and ceilings had 4 layers of wallpaper with paint on top. Doors were painted over varnish with no primer, and the paint was bubbling. I bought this house for the location, exterior charm, and high ceilings. I don't believe in leaving old woodwork/trim unpainted if it clashes with your style, as long as you do a quality job and don't glob the paint on. I also don't believe in taking hats off indoors or any other antiquated nonsense. ;) Style evolves, but quality workmanship is timeless, thus my question. I'm willing to spend the time to do it correctly, and I've already remodeled the bathroom, which included refinishing the old sash window for 20+ hours. I'm just looking for options here, but the standard sized trim is a no-go.

Why get rid of W10? it's awesome!! and only free for about 12 more days, after that it will cost $120.00 or a new PC w/W10

Apernut...why not have it? Because common sense tells me that for 30 years every new windows version under the sun has cost hundreds to get, or you had to buy a new computer...now they're just giving this away for free? Too old to buy into that one...mark my words...we'll hear why we all "needed" it soon enough...and it won't be good.

Donna, your "logic" isn't shared by those who know more than all of us put together, so don't cling to it too tightly. There's a reason and it isn't what you're suggesting.

Feel free to keep the Windows version you have and be happy - that's what I'm doing and what many others are doing too. In the meantime, while you're reassessing your views, take my advice and stop updating drivers. It's not necessary at all and doing so can lead to problems. Leave well enough alone.

Well millions and millions of folks would disagree with you, and gladly took this Free Gift from MS which was offered to get everyone on the same OS because future updates will come in for this new OS, which by the way is the most stable and efficient OS to date. I took it immediately on all 4 of my home PC's and we love it! plus being a techy type who chats with other techs, we are now only dealing with minor questions which shows us folks are doing great with their new OS=operating system and basically putting us out of work, which is a good thing.

MS is giving up nothing, W10 is in all new PC's and from now on those of us with W10, when a new OS comes out we will be notified and will then have the option to upgrade at a price, not sure if it will be W11 or simply called an upgrade. But the Free offer was intended for W7/W8 only to as I stated before to get everyone on the same OS. Many new Apps will not run correctly on other versions, because W10 is the future the others are the past. Hey, it's up to you but I'm all for the future and very happy to have gotten it for Free. And it is Amazing!!

Is it not possible to install W10 and revert back to W7? I am not thrilled with W10 either but I thought I read here that installing W10 and then reverting to W7 was possible?

Yes, you should be able to install 10, see if you like it, and if you don't, revert to your previous Windows version.

This is what that option looked like for me.

Note that you only have a month though, after a month the option to "Go back to ..." goes
away.

Personally, I'd probably create a system image first. Just in case the upgrade somehow went so wrong that the machine would no longer boot. Probably not too likely but it's cheap peace of mind. Also, with a system image I could take more than a month to conclude Windows 10 isn't for me (or my machine) and still be able to revert. ;-)
