Comments (2)Well bottom line is that we did not pay 100% and the contractor as well his supplier are in agreement that the company S&R window did shotty work at best and are going to take the windows back once our contractor removes them. We ordered new windows from our typical supplier and they are scheduled to be installed next week. Sad thing though is that this forum used to be a buzz with all sorts of help and advice. Comments (9)Thanks so much for trying to help me Nicole! I appreciate you. That link goes to a similar window, but this Marvin Integrity attaches in a completely different manner. I tried the Marvin site, which is heavy with "buy the latest and greatest " and very light on the "how to" section...and they have no customer service after 7 p.m. I asked the carpenter to come back the next night. I overheard him saying "we could just take these screws out..." I was not going to let him "figure it out" and risk my way-too-expensive window this close to winter. I know the Marvin rep that came out in June did not remove any screws. I continued searching the Internet...to no avail. This morning I called Marvin's customer service and had a rep walk me through the process. He was wonderful at explaining it all, and made the dual-arm roto-gear connections make sense in my mind. I got the first window unhooked from its three lower arms and removed it without a hitch, nick, or scratch. As the phone rep was guiding me through the process I stopped and made step-by-step notes. They will be typed out; photos added; and filed in the "Living Room" folder. I won't be caught short again! I also pleaded with him to ask the powers-that-be to add "How to..." sections for each product they sell with instructions for all the functions. We had a large sheet of pink insulation board. I wanted the carpenter to cut it to fill the casements' gaps until he brings them back. I don't want two 21"x56" open air gaps for the next two weeks. He cut the two pieces. I grabbed one to put in the first window gap...and discovered they are 3 inches to short and 3 inches too narrow. I have the window sitting on the front deck; only the screen in the opening with no other protection...and a storm coming. And the "Little House of Horrors on the Prairie" beat goes on! Comments (22)Hangover - You're right, the questions are not funny, they are legitimate. How am I suppose to help without a little background information? Perhaps Mr Newbie has a family to put through college and his money is better spent there than on the expense of overly tall ceilings, doors, and windows. Yes, you should be able to install 10, see if you like it, and if you don't, revert to your previous Windows version.
This is what that option looked like for me.
Note that you only have a month though, after a month the option to "Go back to ..." goes
away.Personally, I'd probably create a system image first. Just in case the upgrade somehow went so wrong that the machine would no longer boot. Probably not too likely but it's cheap peace of mind. Also, with a system image I could take more than a month to conclude Windows 10 isn't for me (or my machine) and still be able to revert. ;-)
