Not to worry the plants have Powdery Mildew (PM). For what you can do, I would do a search & put on my reading glasses. Just do not panic. It is very common. Things you should know - It is airborn therefore not much you can do about it. In your search you will find many remedies, many which will not work. Esp. the commercial fungicides. Do NOT spend alot of money on it. The basic solution is more of prevention, once they get it PM is difficult to eradicate. Tho it does NOT affect any fruit. The idea is to change the Ph of the leaf surface to prevent the spores from adhering. Knowing that is half the battle and a lot of work to "Prevent". So milk works - for a day or two. Baking soda - same. Compost tea, etc. My experience is that they need to be applied EVERYDAY. HTH, Gumby_CT

While it is normal for the cotyledons to yellow, die and fall off, this pic has nitrogen burn on the leaves - the black necrotic tip tissue - and also shows signs to too much watering and aphids (which are attracted to all the nitrogen). From the fertilization schedule you list I can understand why ;) - way too much fertilization for young seedlings. Their needs are really quite minimal: 1/4 strength of a mild food such as your 6-4-4 1 time before going to the garden. Young roots just can't tolerate anything stronger than that in my experience. Problem is it is now all in the soil so they can't recover while in it. I would suggest that you transplant the plants to new containers with a new, quality, pre-moistened but not wet soil-less mix in it - try to remove as much of the old soil as possible first with a light spray rinse of the entire plant under tepid water. This will also remove the aphids. Transplant them deeply to just below the first set of leaves or remove them if they are damaged too and plant even deeper. This will allow new roots to develop along the stem above the damaged area. Then no more feeding and only minimal water until they begin to perk back up. Hope this helps. Good luck. Dave

Don't plus suckers. Water once a day until water comes out of the bottom of the container. Clip off the brown fruits. Research online for similar black/gray leaf diseases and take counter measures. Wait. I've removed 80% of the tomatoes from one of my plants, as well as two horn worms, and the other patio plant is the most healthy thing in the yard. Go figure. I live in TN, and in 90+ weather, I still only water one time a day. Morning is best, dusk is next.

Thank you for your comments. I'm not sure how to reply to a specific comment but to answer Kara's questions, the leaves were more green at first and definitely more full. The plants were also standing more up right instead of leaning over. I used a watering can to water them and some water did splash on the leaves. To answer rina's question, plants in pic 1 and 3 are rooted. Pic 2 had a small rooted plant that is now withered to the point you can't recognize it and the other were propagated from a mother plant, there are babies growing from it that started to sprout roots. Since the plants may be stressed from too much sun, should I bring them indoors or just put them in a more shaded area outdoors? Also how long should I wait to repot them in new soil? Thanks again!!
