Do late starting main crop figs affect ripening?

Steph

Hi folks,

My Kadota's still putting on new fruit buds. I'm wondering, what would be the effect of pulling them off or pruning vs. keeping all of them? I've heard about pulling brebas off to get an earlier/bigger main crop, but not about late starting main crop fruit that may not ripen until november/december.

Anyone had any experience with this?

My inclination is to leave them - I had fruit start in august and ripen in december last year - but since I kept my brebas (they were very tasty too) I wonder if keeping everything is perhaps a bit overambitious. Besides this winter might not be as ridiculously warm as the last one. (for people boggling at figs ripening in December, I'm in SoCal zone 9. We had ONE frost last year, in late december.)
