Old Game Shows Reincarnated

Sunday night we noticed that 2 new/old game shows were on.

The $100,000 pyramid with Michael Strahan as the host. He wasn't very comfortable, it seemed.

Rosie O'Donnell was one of the celebrity contestants.

After that show was over, Match Game came on with Alec Baldwin. Ugh, I don't like him at all. Again Rosie O'Donnell was on that one too.

Yeah, I didn't think Strahan seemed comfortable either. He'll get better. Pyramid was fun until Rosie O. So, I didn't bother watching Match Game. To Tell The Truth is suppose to be on tonight, I think.

I didn't know about these. I wonder if Hollywood Squares will be next. Are the shows on cable? Or the networks?

Dear Kristie, Make sure you get there at least two hours ahead. You and your family can take turns standing in line. The shows stand outside of tourists attractions and hand out tickets, which means they over book to assure the audience will be full. They never know who will attend and who will not. If you wish to be a contestant, the more dramatic you act while in line, or the outfit that you have on can get you on the show. In other words, be a big old phoney.LOL They don't want someone who will clam up on them while on camera. These are just my experiences and some things that has been passed on to me by people who have been on some of the shows. Have fun.

Remember some of these things, others may be a little ahead of me. Spent most of our time outdoors playing with friends - playing house, Barbies, teacher and secretary. And yes, all the freedom was great - all I had to worry about was being home before dark. We would ride our bike's to our local Stop n Go store for candy or icies. My favorite candies were 7 Up candy with the seven different flavors or the Rocky Road chocolate bar. We would also ride to various parks to play, most of the children's play area were styled after rockets or airplanes. Although we lived in So Cal most of our friends did not have a pool, so we either swam at the local high school pool. Two sessions every weekday afternoon. Usually a big group of kid's we knew, always a good time. One in a while we would go to the "plunge" next city over and sometimes we would go to a local "swim club" where our cousins were members. Either way we were in the pool almost every day in the summer. Loved going to the department store "tea rooms" for lunch or an occasional fashion show. Like others I have fabulous memories of visiting our department stores at Christmas time. It was always such a wonderland, loved shopping for my Christmas dress and patent shoes. My grandma usually bought me a new winter coat too. Thank you all for reminding me of all the great times.

You answered your own question. What can a person do? Turn the dial or turn it off. I have no interest in more talk about the Kardashians, the Duggars, Tubby Boo Boo or most of the other "reality" fakes and their hypocrisy. I watch a lot of old shows. MeTV and AntennaTV get most of my viewing. No cable or satellite needed for me. And I find I can watch a few shows (that I do enjoy) on the internet.

I've watched it...stumbled onto it by accident. I thought it was silly fun! OK...stupid antics, adults acting like children and I got caught up in the silliness. I need to "let go" and be a kid every now and then.....ya know!

I was amazed at how vulgar they were. I must be a prude, but I remember the old ones, and while they might have been a tad risque at times, never outright vulgar.

So true. I happened upon Family Feud with Steve Harvey. Lots of innuendos sprinkled about for the laugh factor.

I watched a little of last night's To Tell the Truth. I don't care if I'm called a prude. Just couldn't stand it. I make a prediction: they won't last long.

Vulgarity gets so old and is too easy. I much appreciate a good joke that takes a little thought and will give these shows a pass.

Particular incident was on Family Feud when one contestant's answer alluded to anal sex. I can't imagine watching this with young kids. I was appalled.

These new shows are airing at a later time in the day. They are not meant for children to watch. Things and culture have changed tremendously from 50 years ago when these original shows were on the air. I think these are just a summertime "fill-in" situation and not meant to be permanent, unless they are a huge hit or something like that.

Murraysmom is right on all counts unfortunately. Thank goodness they are meant to be just summer replacements.

We stopped watching Family Feud when Steve Harvey took over. The show became all about him and his antics to make every answer an innuendo to sex.

I watched them but really didn't enjoy them. I love watching the old reruns of Match Game, What's My Line, To Tell the Truth, Password and Tattletales on Buzzer TV. I like the old Family Feud but can't stand seeing Richard Dawson kissing the contestants
