window casing and trim color help
Comments (1)I've posted this several times, but you may be a first-time-poster so will re-peat myself. When I built my home a year ago, I didn't want what I call 'Colonial white' trim/doors nor did I want stained wood. While visiting my son in Wilmington, NC several years ago, we were going thru custom homes, and one had warm tan walls w/trim/doors 4 shades darker. I knew this was the look I wanted 'if I ever built a home.' Suprisingly I *did*, and used this color combo, and have had many compliments. It gives a very warm feeling to the home and is also uniquely mine. Comments (3)ours are about a healthy 1/4", and about a 1/2" deeper. but we have 2 different sizes...larger ones in the window corners and smaller as moldding filler...we decided to use them and the corner blocks rather than making all the miter cuts....See MorePainting out baseboards, leaving window and door casings white?

Comments (2)If you use the same finish as the walls, the casings will disappear. What if you try painting the casings Alabaster but in a gloss finish? If that doesn’t work for you, maybe the darker color on the Alabaster strip, again in a gloss finish, would work. I think it will work just fine, What are you doing for window treatments? That, too, can make a difference. You leave the casings white, add draperies in an Alabaster tone so the fabric overlaps the white casing....See MoreUser
