I've already posted pictures of some noids I love recently....so I have a few pictures from last year for ones not blooming yet. One is a lovely shade of red, another orchid.

Those are really nice ones! The orchid one looks like a great grower!

No Identification

It looks like you did pretty well for your NOIDs, Debra. I like the look of the yellow. I tend to really like the colors of the last one, at first I thought it looked like Nordic Night or Lord of Rings, but don't think so. Very pretty though! I really like your first NOID Sherry! Hope you both get ids for your plants. I have one that I got as Radiation Biohazard, I think it was Mantis who suggested Heartbeat of Heaven as a possible ID. Stats seem to fit pretty well, although I think mine is more like 36" tall rather than 32". It was a bit splotchy in this photo, but later blooms were better. Tall, opens well, plenty of buds, & reblooms. Kind of hard to tell with normal stats with this season.

Just when I think I have my NOIDs whittled down, either by identifying them or getting rid of them, some more come along. This huge yellow flower opened up the other day and we have no idea what it is. It has been a single fan growing in a bed where we put several bonus plants, but we don't have any record of a bonus that looks like this. Bob loves it because the flower is so large.

This little miniature has been with us a long time. We bought it in a nursery in Marysville, Ohio, but the lady that owned the place didn't know what it is either. We thought it might be a Siloam, but there are so many of them that are yellow with a maroon eye, how could you ever pin it down? We just call it 'Marysville Mini'.

This is an amazing daylily, tall with the most brilliant orange red color imaginable. It was supposed to be Priceless, but I told Bob before the flower ever opened that it was mislabeled--the bud was too dark to be a light pink. We think it might be Fire Bird Suite or possibly Flaming Flamingo. (Unfortunately bloom size and scape height are similar.) We have both and when they bloom we will compare and see if we can make an identification. We attached the word 'faux' which mean fake in French to many of our NOID so this is Faux Priceless.

This was purchased locally from a lady who thought its name was Dark Red Georgia. Well, there is no registered daylily with that name. Still we like it and will keep it.

This was supposed to be Decatur Bullion, a bright yellow. We showed the sellers a picture, but they didn't recognize. They thought it might be a seedling growing up in the beds. It's not well budded, but we like it and and will keep it.

I am not sure if this is a NOID or not. We purchased it as Screech Owl, but the AHS database says Screech Owl is tannish red. (I know there are tons of mistakes in there. I looked up Crown of Thorns the other day. The picture shows a deep red with teeth and description says it's melon.) That's not what I'd call this one. Does anyone else grow this one?

Nan - I can identiffy your first NOID. That big yellow with the white edge is Ram. Your miniature looks like Siloam Junebug.

Nancy - Your lavender with the white edge sure looks like some photos of Heartbeat of Heaven. Are the blooms large? I have that one about to bloom. I got it from Maryott last fall. My scapes are only about 12 inches high. LOL You must be doing something right to grow them so tall.

Debra, right now the flowers are about 6", maybe even less, but I'm pretty sure earlier flowers were bigger. It usually reblooms, but I don't see any rebloom scapes yet. I went out and measured the height after the rain this afternoon, closer to 34" than 36" I originally said, but that is closer to the stats. This one is growing in a bed close to the house where it gets a bit more water. We cleaned out our fish pond last month, & I poured the fish water on these plants too, so a little fertilizer :) But yours is just getting ready to bloom, mine has been blooming almost a week now.

Debra, your yellow could be Omomuki, but it's definitely taller than 22 inches.

Mantis - Good suggestion on the yellow. I don't think it is though because the blooms are closer to 6 inches than 5 inches.

Mantis, I think we have a match. It's an old cultivar, the flower size and scape height match. It has never rebloomed for me but is classified as an evergreen. I have other older evergreens that have never rebloomed here. Hurray!

Debra, thanks for the suggestions and you are right, the large one is Ram. We grow Ram in another bed but that one has such small flowers compared to the one whose picture I showed we weren't sure at first.

We have identified the orange NOID. It is indeed Fire Bird Suite. The one we purchased as Fire Bird Suite bloomed and we compared them.

Brad - Your #7 purple UF may be Prismatic. Julia has posted pictures on Prismatic in the past that look almost identical. I'd sure like to have some of that one.

All mine are! Even the ones I purchased at garden centers--they often are not named. When you buy a plant labeled yellow and it is purple--well I do not trust the pot that are named!!

Debra, all 3 noids are pretty, I'd keep those too :) That's a shame that some sellers thought so :( I got some mislabeled plants too, same story - sellers couldn't ID. Still have 2 of those, ID'ed one thanks to GWer pics and the second one.. will be gone this year, it had one scape and it dried out.

arcy - I can identify your #4 NOID. It's Siloam Double Classic.

Debra, it seems to me you should be able to find the lavender name. There aren't that many tall lavenders. My initial reaction was that it must be a Hanson, but I can't find any of his that match. As for growers' reactions, I've had the same thing. I once asked whether a grower had a picture of a particular plant, and the grower insisted she never grew that one. But I found it in an old catalog.

Mantis - The lavender NOID may be Hanson's Shadow Dream Song. It's the only thing in the seller's catalog that comes close. It's registered as an orchid pink 6 inch bloom on 36 inch scapes with a violet band. My picture vaguely resembles photos on the Internet of it.
